There is plenty to love about Dragon's Dogma 2, but some have found that many of the game's features – or lack thereof – leave something to be desired. The lack of a Fast Travel system, the lack of a manageable materials system, the lack of enemy variety in the open world – all common frustrations among players that can be fixed with mods.
Dragon's Dogma 2: How to Find Fun Pawn IDs (& How to Use Them)
Having a strong but boring Pawn isn't always the move – especially not when there are so many cool custom Dragon's Dogma 2 Pawns out there.
To download and install Dragon's Dogma 2 mods, you will need to first download a mod manager, then correctly place other mod files into its directory. This guide explains how to get a DD2 mod manager up and running, how to get mods, and how to properly install DD2 mods within the example mod manager.
To download and install Dragon's Dogma 2 mods, you must play the PC version of the game.
First, Download A Dragon's Dogma 2 Mod Manager
Before you go to install mods for Dragon's Dogma 2, consider downloading a DD2 Mod Manager. Though it's perfectly possible to install mods for games without mod managers, it can be tricky to uninstall extensive mods without completely re-installing your game.
The best DD2 Mod Manager, and the most widely supported, is the Fluffy Mod Manager. Fluffy works for a variety of games, including Dragon's Dogma 2 and many other RE Engine titles, and makes the process of installing, enabling/disabling, and customizing your mod settings relatively simple. Fluffy Mod Manager is available on Nexusmods.
Dragon's Dogma 2: All Patch Notes
This guide details a history of all Dragon's Dogma 2 patch notes, separated by date, and is regularly updated as new DD2 patches are released.
Once downloaded, extract the zipped Fluffy Mod Manager to the folder of your choice. Your Documents folder will work just fine, as it doesn't need to be located in the same folder as DD2.
Make a shortcut for easier access later on, then head back to trusted DD2 mod sites like Nexusmods to find some addons.
Though it doesn't appear that Capcom will ban players for using mods online, it's best practice to avoid using addons that modify online features. Offering several Portcrystals or a
Preserved Medusa Head as a Pawn Quest reward, for example, may arouse suspicion.
How To Install Dragon's Dogma 2 Mods
Once you have found some Dragon's Dogma 2 mods that you want to install, read each mod's Description and Requirements to find out specific installation instructions and pre-requisite addons. For example, REFramework is required by a number of game engine-altering mods, like Item Tweaks or No Stamina Out Of Combat, and must be installed alongside both of these mods for them to be functional.
- Once you have downloaded each mod's compressed folder, open up the Fluffy Mod Manager.
- Select Dragon's Dogma 2 from the compatible games list, then click "Options" on the right-side menu.
- Select "Open Mod Folder" to open up the location that Fluffy will pull mods from.
- Copy and paste the zipped files to the Fluffy mod folder location, then tab back to the Fluffy Mod Manager application.
- Back out to the main menu, then click "Refresh Mod List". Your downloaded mods should appear in the middle of the screen.
- Click "Launch Game" to launch your modded version of Dragon's Dogma 2.
Each mod can be toggled on and off as desired – and clicking a mod that won't work will display a warning with a basic description of what's wrong. Some mods come as packages and require players to select one of the variants included within the zipped folder.
Item Tweaks, for example, offers about a dozen different variants with different Weight, Gold, and other item changes, but only one can be active at a time. For mods that offer a selection of variants from a package, like Item Tweaks, click the mod name to open a sub-menu that lists each different version. Toggle only one version here to enable the mod.
