What starts out as buying a bow for an elf can end with saving the Arborheart of Sacred Arbor in Dragon's Dogma 2. This massive tree is important to the elves, but it hasn't been doing too well in recent years.
The quest "Out of the Forest, Into the Forge" is the last in the Sacred Arbor storyline. It picks up immediately where the last quest, "The Ailing Arborheart," leaves off. You have a few more tasks ahead of you, but at least you won't have to translate any more words from the Elvish of Dragon's Dogma 2.
Dragon's Dogma 2: Discipline (DCP) Farming Guide
Discipline, marked as DCP in Dragon's Dogma 2, is a crucial component to improving your character. Here's everything you need to know.
How to Make Nutriabh
The quest "Out of the Forest, Into the Forge" begins when the apprentice Sara asks you to bring the Elven food "nutriabh" to her master, Brokkr. Since the Arisen isn't an elf, you'll need to head back to Sacred Arbor to speak to Doireann about what to do next. Something to note is that this quest becomes much faster (and easier) if you place Portcrystals in both Sacred Arbor and Bakbattahl.
The Ingredients
Doireann doesn't know why you want to make the pungent nutriabh, but she goes along with it. All she needs are its main ingredients: a rotten apple and a rotten shorefish. Keep in mind that only a shorefish will work: other types of fish won't work for this quest.
If you have apples and shorefish in storage, all you need to do is put one of each into your inventory and wait a few in-game days for them to spoil. Sitting on a bench in Sacred Arbor and dozing off a few times will work. Just make sure that you and your Pawns don't have the Sorcerer Augment "Stasis," since this slows the rate of spoilage. You should also watch for Pawns with the Logistician specialization, since they may combine rotten fish with other ingredients to make lamp oil.
If you don't have the ingredients on hand, you won't have to look far to find them.
- Shorefish are often dropped by Saurian enemies, and you can collect them from bodies of water, just look for the bubbles. There's at least one shorefish resource spot in the waters beneath Sacred Arbor.
- Apples come from apple trees, which in Dragon's Dogma 2 are about the same height as your character. Look for the bright red fruit in the forest outside Sacred Arbor.
Once you have the ingredients at just the right level of rot, bring them back to Doireann and she'll create the nutriabh.
Dragon's Dogma 2: Should You Change Vocation?
Players have the option to change their vocation, or character class, in Dragon's Dogma 2. Here is what you need to know in order to make that choice.
How to Gather Scalecinder
Head back to Bakbattahl (hopefully with a ferrystone to a portable portcrystal) and the forge to bring both Doireann and the nutriabh to Sara. Brokkr is currently gathering raw materials from a cave just outside of town, so Sara will take you to him. Keep in mind that her path could lead past some monsters, including a potential griffin attack.
Once you reach the mine, Brokkr will act rudely to Doireann, but he'll take the nutriabh, so he can "dispose" of it elsewhere. According to Sara, this is his way of letting you and Doireann into the cave, so you can gather the scalecinder you need.
The cave, called Stragglers' Cave, has no monsters inside, but it's full of breakable boxes and barrels. None of them contain
Scalecinder, but you can get useful materials from them. Instead, you should look for yellow-green piles of ash like this one:
If you check every corner of Stragglers' Cave, you should find four piles of scalecinder, although you only really need one. Once you find all four, or once you try to leave the cave, this leg of the quest will end. You can then deliver all the scalecinder you found to Doireann.
The quest ends with this delivery, and your reward is 13,000 gold and a
Warbler Capelet. However, the next time you visit Sacred Arbor you'll see a cutscene in which Doireann points out the new branches growing from the Arborheart.
