Dragon Quest 2: Luminaries of the Legendary Line was a big upgrade for the series as the first sequel in many ways. For example, the original game was a solo adventure, meaning there were no party members. However, the sequel does have party members, meaning players had to stretch their money, Gold, to equip everyone with the best armor.

How Long to Beat All Missions in Dragon Quest 1 & 2 Remake

A complete list of all missions in both Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D remakes, and how long it will take to beat them both individually.

It’s a bit easier to find armor in the sequel via Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake. Dragon Quest 2 Remake has a lot of quality of life improvements, but for anyone struggling, here is some armor players should find for their party as soon as possible. It’s one of the better Dragon Quest games, so RPG fans should check it out. The following equipment can be found before getting access to the ship, in the first six hours or so.

Scholar's Cap

  • Location: Moonbrooke Castle

The Scholar's Cap can be located easily within a cabinet found in the ruins of Moonbrooke Castle. There’s actually a good weapon next to it, too, the Holy Lance, so players won’t want to miss out on this opportunity.

The Scholar's Cap is a piece of headgear that will boost Defence along with Wisdom, and it’s rare to find armor this early on that will boost two different stats like this. It’s a very good hat for Peronel, who is the most gifted mage of the party, with Caradoc being the second by default, since the Hero character in Dragon Quest 2 Remake cannot use most magic at the start.

Fizzle-Retardant Blouse

  • Location: Moonbrooke Castle (B1)

The Fizzle-Retardant Blouse is a great piece of early body armor in the game that can be found within Moonbrooke Castle’s basement. It will be hiding in some barrels in the corner, which is odd since it’s such an important piece of gear for Peronel in particular.

How to Get Rid of Curses in Dragon Quest 1&2 Remake

Confused on how you can remove the cursed equipment in Dragon Quest 1&2 Remake? Check out our guide here.

There is a spell that players and enemies can cast called Fizzle. This will seal away magical abilities until it is cured, much like how the Silence spell works in the Final Fantasy series. With the Fizzle-Retardant Blouse, Peronel will not have to worry about getting her magic sealed anytime soon.

Arriviste’s Vest

  • Location: Leftwyne (Inn, Need Thief’s Key)

The Arriviste’s Vest is something that all characters can equip as a type of body armor. The Defence for it is decent, but the added bonus will make players not want to take it off, even during Dragon Quest 2 Remake's late hours.

It will increase how much Gold players will be rewarded after battle, and Gold, like currency in many RPGs, is not an easy thing to come by. Players can find the Arriviste’s Vest in Leftwyne’s inn, but they need the Thief’s Key to open the red chest. Players will get this magical item right after adding Peronel to the party, opening up many doors of opportunity in the process.

Cloak Of Evasion

  • Location: Cannock (Shop)

The Cloak of Evasion is not a difficult piece of armor to find because it can be purchased in Cannock. Once Peronel joins the party, the shops in Midenhall and Cannock will be updated. The Cloak of Evasion will increase Defence, but more importantly, whoever has it equipped can dodge more attacks.

Accuracy is important in Dragon Quest 2 Remake as much as it is in most RPGs for both the hero party and the enemy hordes. So, with evasive boons, players can battle even the most accurate of attacks.

White Shield

  • Location: Oasis (Shop)

The White Shield can be purchased in Oasis, which is literally an oasis within Dragon Quest 2 Remake's world. Like most shields in the game, only the Hero and Caradoc can equip it. It has a good Defence rating with the bonus of being able to reduce fire damage from enemies. Various mages and dragons can cast fire abilities, so it’s not a bad idea to buy two shields to beef up defenses.

What to Do with Mini-Medals & Tombola Tickets in Dragon Quest 2 Remake

Here's what to do with the Mini-Medals and Tombola Tickets you collect in Dragon Quest

Without spoiling things, there will be a big fight in Rippleport where the White Shields will come in handy for sure. If players want to lessen the blow of the cost, they can play the lottery in Oasis via the Tombola Draw game. The Ultimate prize is the Loyalty Card, which will reduce shop prizes for the rest of the game. If players need to get Tombola Tickets, some enemies can drop them in the Oasis desert, but it does require a little luck.

Robe Of Serenity

  • Location: Northern Dragon’s Horns

The Robe of Serenity can be found in the Northern Dragon’s Horns, which is a massive tower. It’s another piece of gear that only Peronel can equip, which will be a good upgrade from the Fizzle-Retardant Blouse. Even better, in each round, the armor will heal a bit of Peronel’s HP.

Since she naturally has the weakest Defence stat of Dragon Quest 2 Remake's starting party lineup, this makes it an essential piece of gear to get for her. If she dies in battle, players will lose some powerful offensive and defensive spells, and reviving a party member is not easy in a Dragon Quest game.
