You'll also find seeds all throughout the game that will help give you additional boosts in the stat of that seed, and knowing what every stat does is crucial to using those seeds right and building your party. Here's what each stat does in Dragon Quest 11.

The Protagonist has the most potential of any party member in Dragon Quest 11; here's the best build for him throughout the game.

Every Attribute In Dragon Quest 11 Explained

There are 11 attributes in total, each giving the following effects.:

Attribute Name

Effects

Max HP

HP stands for health points and is the total damage that a character can take before getting knocked down in combat.

Max MP

MP stands for magic points, which are used every time you cast a spell and use most abilities, in or out of combat.

Attack

The damage done with your weapon through basic attacks or abilities is the combination of your strength and the stats of your equipped weapon. Without the right skill, left-handed attacks will only deal about half damage.

Defense

Determines the reduction in incoming damage from physical attacks, based on the equipped gear's stats and that character's resilience.

Magical Might

Determines the amount of damage done from spells.

Magical Mending

Determines how strong healing spells are, along with the chances for revival spells to work.

Strength

The base physical prowess of that character that determines how much damage they can do without a weapon equipped.

Resilience

The character's basic overall resistance to incoming physical damage.

Agility

Determines the order a character will go in combat, with a higher agility going first. Also increases that character's chances of dodging incoming attacks.

Deftness

Determines how likely enemies won't notice your party during the first turn in combat, makes it easier to flee in combat, determines how easily a character can steal items from an enemy, and increases their critical hit rate but only slightly.

Charm

Determines how likely a charm-inducing spell or ability is to work.

How To Increase Base Stats In Dragon Quest 11

While basic level-ups will increase the best stats on a character; there are other ways to increase a specific stat should you want to:

  • Using seeds for that attribute.
  • Equipping accessories with bonus stats.
  • Unlocking specific skills in the skill tree, respecing when needed.

While you can build just about any character however you want, some builds are simply better than others for the challenging late-game content.
