Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot  was a huge hit for fans of the iconic and beloved franchise. With CyberConnect2 adapting the story of the Dragon Ball Z  anime with painstaking accuracy, fans were able to relive nostalgic moments in an interactive yet abbreviated and enjoyable way. Nevertheless, many fans are pining for a sequel or a DLC featuring the story of Dragon Ball Super and all of its characters. Although there has been no official announcement regarding the possibility of this happening, Dragon Ball Super  certainly has a lot of potential to be made into an RPG style game like this and would likely introduce a host of new playable characters.

For those unaware, although Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot  had all of the characters fans of the original anime remembered, not all of them were playable. Instead, some took the form of support characters that would aid the player in battle, or simply sat on the sideline as NPCs to talk to and receive quests from. Given that Dragon Ball Super features a lot more characters and makes a good effort to bring previously sidelined characters back to the center of attention, it is likely that the roster of playable characters would expand dramatically in a Dragon Ball Super  expansion or sequel.

All the characters which are currently playable would remain so in this new expansion, with the exception of perhaps Gotenks who doesn't get much of a chance to shine in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot  or Dragon Ball Super. Additionally, the majority of the first couple arcs in Dragon Ball Super  still prominently feature currently playable characters such as Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan, and Future Trunks. Where the potential for a more expansive roster really opens up is the Tournament of Power, a battle between several universes with 10 fighters each.

This is all speculation. There has been no announcement regarding a Dragon Ball Super DLC or any new playable characters.

Master Roshi

Everyone's favorite geezer, Master Roshi has proven to be an incredibly popular character in Dragon Ball Super. Having played an important role in the original Dragon Ball, many fans of the character were upset to see him so useless in Dragon Ball Z. All of that changed in Dragon Ball Super when Master Roshi joined the Universe 7's team for the Tournament of Power, showing that he had a lot more power than anyone imagined. Master Roshi has some very cool fights during the tournament and it would be interesting to see how CyberConnect2 would choose to portray him as a playable character in a game like Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

Android 17

Although his role in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot was incredibly minute, few can deny that Android 17 is one of the coolest characters reintroduced in Dragon Ball Super, and that's not to mention the incredibly important role he plays at the tournament's conclusion. In addition to the possibility of Android 17 being playable, Android 18 and Krillin also both put up a good fight during the tournament and have a few unique battles, meaning they would be candidates to be playable characters as well. Given the popularity of Android 18, it was a shame that she was only available as a support character, so hopefully if a Dragon Ball Super  DLC ever does happen, the same won't happen again for Android 17.

Frieza

This might be the biggest shocker of all, as Frieza's evil nature and hatred for Saiyans would imply that he could never be a hero. While none would go so far as to call him a hero, Dragon Ball Super's Tournament of Power forces him into the role of an antihero of sorts. Being able to play Frieza and having access to his Golden Form during the Tournament of Power would be incredibly enjoyable, but aside from the final fight in which he teams up with Goku, not many of Frieza's battles are shown on screen, potentially lowering the chances of him being a playable character.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot  is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
