Bandai Namco continues to evolve Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and the upcoming World Tournament DLC gives Goku a new look and introduces several more changes to the open-world ARPG. While Dragon Ball FighterZ and Xenoverse 2 fans continue to get their own content updates, the World Tournament DLC may entice more players to return to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. The World Tournament is a busy time for the main characters of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, and though it has been featured in previous titles based on the franchise, DBZ: Kakarot has focused on other storyline events. The fifth DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is set to revolve around this fighting tournament known for classic moments like Goku fighting a disguised Master Roshi and the combat debut of Piccolo. Although it's currently unclear which specific story moments will appear in the World Tournament DLC, a Japanese ad recently went viral as it hints at some of the possibilities and shows a brand-new look for Goku. The World Tournament DLC follows the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Bardock expansion, and it will portray much of what happens during the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament arc of the anime. Because of the time changes, Goku has been given a different look to reflect his younger self, and many Dragon Ball Z fans are already expressing their appreciation for this cosmetic change to the Bandai Namco ARPG protagonist. The images for the upcoming Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC show Goku with a younger and smaller look than the one he has for much of his journey in the ARPG, but it also shows him in a blue outfit holding an umbrella that may be yet another option in the World Tournament.
The Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot screenshots in the ad shared by Twitter users DbsHype and DmGaming_5 prominently focus on the version of Goku that will be part of the new DLC, but they also hints at story beats. One image shows the different Goku standing with similarly younger Bulma, Launch, Master Roshi, Oolong, and Puar, while two other screenshots tease the battle between the Saiyan hero and Piccolo. The confrontation between Goku and Piccolo at the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament is a big moment in the Dragon Ball Z franchise because it's the only time that Goku has won the whole thing despite participating in several events.
Given that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's World Tournament DLC focuses on the 23rd iteration, it's fitting that Goku has been reverted to his teenage years, but Bandai Namco may not have anticipated such a positive fan reception. Although it's currently unclear when Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot players can expect to get their hands on the World Tournament DLC, the teasers may have even more fans anticipating the fifth add-on.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
