In January, Bandai Namco announced that a new Dragon Ball Z  action RPG, known at the time as Project Z, was in the works. Following this announcement, a trailer was shown at E3 2019, which confirmed the game's title as Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and gave fans a closer look at the forthcoming DBZ  RPG. While this Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot trailer may have led some to believe that Goku would be the game's only   playable character, that is, in fact, not the case.

With respect to the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot  playable characters, these five have been officially confirmed:

  • Adult Gohan
  • Gohan
  • Goku
  • Piccolo
  • Teen Gohan
  • Trunks
  • Vegeta
  • Vegito

Regarding the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot  support characters, these four have been officially confirmed:

  • Chiaotzu
  • Krillin
  • Tien Shinhan
  • Yamcha

While the function of the DBZ: Kakarot  playable characters is likely clear to those that are familiar with RPGs, some may be wondering what the DBZ: Kakarot  support characters will do in the game. On that matter, it has been indicated that the support characters in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot  will offer assistance in battle, performing actions based on a player's command inputs as well as protecting playable characters from incoming attacks and pursuing foes.

At the time of writing, there are quite a few details on Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot available for fans to peruse, including information on the game's leveling system, combat, world, and much more. That said, one aspect of the game that has not been confirmed is the total number of playable and support characters that will be featured in the title. However, there is certain to be more information about the Dragon Ball: Kakarot  characters shared prior to the game's release, and that information will be reflected in this character list.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will release early 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
