- Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 offers an open-world experience with unique stories and villains to encounter.
- Parallel Quests in Xenoverse 2 provide side missions that reward items, costumes, and techniques.
- Characters like Kid Buu, SSGSS Goku, and Bojack offer unique abilities beneficial for Parallel Quests.
Unlike other fighting games, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 prides itself in being an open-world experience, allowing players to explore Dragon Ball’s story, embark on a new one in Xenoverse 2’s story mode, as well as roam around to encounter various villains along the way. This not only ensures there’s always something new to do, but this mechanic locks interesting content behind certain activities within the game. One particular Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 mechanics players should take note of is Parallel Quests, essentially side missions with unique stories that reward not just currency but items and unlockables, such as costumes and even techniques.
Dragon Ball: Craziest What-If Stories From The Games
The Dragon Ball games present players with some incredible what-if scenarios. These are the most absurd that you'll come across.
Thankfully, players don’t immediately have to take on these quests alone. In fact, they can take some ally characters with them to ensure they have a fighting chance in some of this Dragon Ball game’s most intense quests.
Updated November 26, 2024 by Rhenn Taguiam: With Dragon Ball Sparking Zero taking the world by storm with action-packed multiplayer fights, fans of the acclaimed franchise might be eager to try their hand in other Dragon Ball titles just to loosen up in the middle of their matches. Among games for players to try would be Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, where they can create their own characters and save the multiverse with seven years’ worth of expansions.
Not only that, despite the game’s age, it's still releasing updates - with the most recent one being that of Future Saga Chapter 2, which provides players with quite an exhilarating story with the future at stake. And should players want to grow their characters at an accelerated pace, Parallel Quests are the way to go for their rewards - with recommended allies to take include Dragon Ball Z’s most dangerous villain, Gohan’s rival, as well as Android 18’s twin brother.

When Goku and the Z-Fighters squared off against the absorbing Majin Buu, little did they know his Kid Buu form was actually one of the most ruthless villains they would ever face. Touted as a being capable of being a threat to the entire universe, it took a massive effort from Goku, Vegeta, Gotenks, and the other Z-Fighters to put an end to his onslaught. As such, it makes sense for Kid Buu to become a menace of an ally during Parallel Quests.
In Parallel Quests where an ally also fights AI opponents, it’s important to guarantee that the player’s allies are attacking opponents in the first place. Since melee fighters who get kicked out of range often find a hard time getting back in the fight, Kid Buu gets the advantage with his repertoire of long-ranged attacks. Specifically interesting in his arsenal is his Teleporting Vanishing Ball, where Kid Buu first creates a shield before creating a massive ball that will teleport toward the opponent’s direction. This move guarantees that Kid Buu has an attack they will always try to launch at opponents, with the attack’s successful connection dealing 30% damage across 15 hits.

I t’s a bit of a long story…: -100 Stamina to opponents who get hit by a Charged Ki Blast |
Back when Freeza first achieved his Golden Form, Goku’s transformation into the Super Saiyan God became one of the best reveals in the Dragon Ball series. After all, a “transcended” form that uses the Power of the Gods is something grand, even for Goku’s scale. It’s for this reason that it came as such a surprise that a Super Saiyan God Goku can tap into his inner Saiyan strength to turn into the blue-haired SSGSS Goku.
Considered the apex among Super Saiyan forms, SSGSS Goku is notable in a game like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for his heavy-hitting long-ranged attacks and ability to strike up close and personal whenever needed. As a Parallel Quest ally, his Warp Kamehameha can give players an incredible edge as this means Goku can charge a Kamehameha and teleport to an opponent to launch it - dealing 30% damage across 24 hits. This added guarantee that Goku will teleport to a target can give players peace of mind that their ally will have an active contribution in combat.

Now, give your father a message for me: +20% Normal Attacks, to take effect 90s after battle starts |
Due to how AI allies in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 don’t necessarily guarantee that they will chase after players, the safest choice for players to get would be allies that have abilities to get up close and personal with enemies whenever they get the chance. Such a character to pull this off is Bojack, the ruthless leader of the Galaxy Soldiers and Gohan’s movie rival in the Bojack Unbound film. While he didn’t stay as a villain for a long time, Bojack became Gohan’s path to ascension into a hero who was willing to do what it takes to save the world.
Bojack’s status as a threat is cemented in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 thanks to his Revenge Launcher. With this skill, Bojack launches a Ki ball before teleporting toward the opponent and firing another Ki ball upside down - dealing 5% damage over two hits. Despite its low damage count, Bojack’s Reverse Launcher is more important as a guaranteed teleport to the opponent, as this gives Bojack room to constantly attack opponents without players having to give them the opening.

Getting beat up makes me cranky: +5% Ki Auto-Recovery (Always) |
Before Cell makes himself known as one of the Earth’s biggest threats in Dragon Ball Z, he first has to absorb his “siblings” - Androids 16, 17, and 18. Whereas Android 16 had developed a fondness for life on Earth, his siblings Android 17 and Android 18 developed a penchant for destruction. Since the end of the series, Android 18 has become a housewife and one of the more powerful Z-Fighters, whereas Android 17 has become a forest ranger. And if there’s anything his performance in the Universe Survival Saga in Dragon Ball Super had proved, he’s not exactly a slouch.
This is further demonstrated to players of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 should players pick Android 17 as an ally. Thanks to his Super Soul, he’s constantly recharging his Ki - something useful to him as he has a plethora of long-distance attacks. However, perhaps more interesting in his kit is his Freedom Kick, a skill that makes Android 17 loop around the sky and kicks the opponent down to deal 10% damage. Should Android 17’s AI use this while the opponent is knocked down, this skill will track them - guaranteeing more consistent attacks.

The Gold Represents the New Me: Get +20% Normal Ki Blasts |
After the events leading to his resurrection, Frieza trains and attains an even more powerful “perfected” form known as Golden Frieza. This Frieza transformation cements the sheer regality of Frieza as a tyrant, preferring not to deal damage up close. Reflected by “The gold represents the new me” Super Soul, Golden Frieza enjoys much stronger normal Ki Blasts, cementing a long-ranged approach.
Dragon Ball Super: Every Main Character’s Ages And Heights
The cast of Dragon Ball Super continues to expand upon the series' mainstays. Here's what you need to know about the most important characters.
This Super Soul complements the rest of his toolkit well, particularly ranged attacks such as explosive launcher Emperor’s Edge, focus fire Crazy Finger Shot and stunning Emperor’s Blast. Most importantly, his deadly Ultimate Emperor’s Death Beam can dish out a minimum of 40% damage over 15 hits depending on how much Ki he possesses.

That Won’t Work On Me!: When hit with an Ultimate Attack, get -50% Attack Reduction from all attacks |
Fans of Dragon Ball Super would recognize Kamikaze Fireballs leader Ribrianne, boasting quite the flair for leadership. However, despite her short stint as a character in Dragon Ball Super, she remains a force to reckon with in Xenoverse 2. Her Super Soul, “That won’t work on me!” Capitalizes on her tankiness, as hitting her with an Ultimate Attack will trigger its one-time effect of hugely reducing damage from all attacks.
Aside from this Super Soul, the rest of her toolkit cements her position as a tank. Aside from decent attacks such as Pretty Cannon and her Ultimate Maiden Burst, she has a Full Power Charge variant called Pretty Charge, a power-up move called Formation!, and a Power Up Ultimate called Lovely Showtime that can raise her Ki and Stamina with the right charging.
7 Piccolo
Survive As Long As Stamina Is Full

I’m Neither Kami Nor Piccolo: Always get +10% Ki Blast Skill Damage. If Stamina is 100%, activate +0.6% of Max HP/second Auto-Health Recovery |
Previously a rival of Goku, Piccolo becomes one of his closest confidants throughout the rest of the series. Serving as Gohan’s mentor, it’s no surprise that Piccolo becomes the ever-reliable healer in Xenoverse 2. With his “I’m neither Kami nor Piccolo!” Super Soul, he always gets stronger Ki Blast attacks - essential for his toolkit. Not only that, but he always gets Health Auto-Recovery at maximum Stamina, incentivizing a long-ranged approach.
While AI Piccolo often heals players, he’s no slouch either. Much of his stronger attacks are Ki Blasts, with Light Grenade dealing damage across different stages, Paralyze Beam stunning opponents, and his Ultimate Hellzone Grenade being a homing attack.

Revival of the Demon Realm is at Hand: Always get -15% less Revive Time, Get +30% Ki Restoration upon battle start |
Antagonist Towa of the Xenoverse 2 story is hell-bent on reviving the Demon Realm to wreck timelines and attain power, and she is nothing to underestimate in combat. Her Super Soul, “Revival of the Demon Realm is at hand,” immediately cements the advantage on the get-go. Aside from having a much shorter revival time, she immediately starts combat with two filled Ki bars. Players interested in a quick finish may want to capitalize on this advantage and get blasting.
This Super Soul works well with the rest of her toolkit designed to debilitate the enemy’s advance. For instance, Time Bullet traps opponents in a ranged-grabbing sphere, while Bloody Sauce can either poison and/or slow down enemies. Moreover, her Energy Zone Ultimate not only blasts enemies away but heals allies inside this protective area.
9 Cooler (Fourth Form)

The Real Hell Begins Here!: -15% Decrease Attack Damage, inflict Slow and Poison when Charged Ki Blast hits |
Sometimes, the best allies come in the form of characters designed specifically to give opponents a false sense of security. Such is the case of Cooler (Fourth Form), who in Xenoverse 2 gameplay retains his annoyance toward his younger brother Frieza while exhibiting a much deadlier approach to combat, similar to Cooler’s image in the films. His “The real hell begins here!” Super Soul does force his attacks to get weaker to a certain degree, but this is exchanged with a buff that both poisons and slows down opponents when hitting them with Charged Ki Blasts.
This Super Soul complements Cooler’s toolkit that focuses on strong Ki Blasts. Outside his Sledgehammer designed to get opponents away from him, he has a quick-shooting Death Beam, as well as the stunning Destructive Ray. Cooler also possesses a Full Power Energy Wave Ultimate that can deal as much as 25% damage and his signature Supernova Cooler that can deal as much as 45% damage.

This Is As Far As You Go: Max Ki will force enemies to target Pikkon for 3s, Successful Just Guard gives +50 Ki |
In Dragon Ball lore, Pikkon serves as Piccolo's substitute during the filler arcs of the core Dragon Ball Z anime. However, Pikkon’s no slouch when it comes to combat, especially in the gameplay of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 when used as a PQ Ally. Core to his combat mechanics is his Super Soul, “This is as far as you go,” which essentially forces all enemies to target them when their Ki is maxed out. Not to mention, successfully blocking foes will restore a bit of their Ki.
Pikkon’s taunting nature makes them work well as a tanking unit, capable of taking damage on behalf of the player. Not only that, but the rest of his toolkit works well to send opponents further from the team such as knockdowns from Hyper Tornado, or punishing counter-strikes from Burning Shot and Reverse Mabakusenko.
