Throughout the Dragon Ball franchise, the Saiyans in particular have undergone many incredible transformations. Though there was an element of criticism much earlier on in the series of these forms looking far too generic and not adding much in terms of design, they're all incredibly iconic, and the moments when they're first unlocked go down as some of the most memorable in the entire series.
Vegeta is no stranger to this trend. Ever since his introduction in Dragon Ball Z, he has unlocked many new and powerful transformations, and quite often, his versions of the same forms used by the other Saiyans tend to stick out. However, among all of these transformations, there is one that stands above the others, both in terms of design as well as what it means for Vegeta's entire story arc. So, let's take a look at which one this is.
Why Dragon Ball Super's Return Might Take Longer than Expected
Dragon Ball Super won't return to serialization within the new few months, and here's why.

Ever since he made his first appearance in the series, Vegeta has stood out from the other villainous Saiyans. His ambition was to come in to recruit Goku and gather the Dragon Balls in order to make a wish for immortality. This ultimately led to him being directly at odds with Goku and fighting him in a battle that goes down as one of the most iconic in the entire anime industry.
Through his defeat and the uneasy alliance he formed with the Z-Fighters in the subsequent Namek Saga, Vegeta eventually began to see the error of his ways and opted to live out the rest of his life on Earth, eventually becoming one of its greatest protectors. However, the Buu Saga would reveal that, despite coming to be known as a great protector of the world, Vegeta still harbored some evil in his heart, which had also been hinted at previously during his most ruthless moments in the Android and Perfect Cell arcs.
Tell me, does a machine like yourself ever experience fear?
Taking advantage of this, Babidi eventually managed to take over Vegeta's mind, allowing his innate evil to take him over, which made him far stronger than before and unlocked a further level of power within his Super Saiyan 2 state. As soon as he appeared, fans fell in love with him since Majin Vegeta is remembered as one of the major highlights of the entire Buu Saga. Although it served to make him a minor antagonist in the arc, his whole journey to become so was incredible to witness, as his reasoning for allowing Babidi into his mind was perfectly in line with his character.
As for design, Majin Vegeta certainly didn't disappoint. Of course, he was largely the same as the other Super Saiyans in the series, with the sharp golden hair and golden aura. However, there were a few notable differences that stood out, namely the fact that Vegeta's muscle mass was significantly increased, as well as his vascularity, giving him a far more feral and unhinged kind of look. This paid off a great deal since it perfectly contrasted with his heroic self.
The true reason why he underwent this transformation was mainly due to his jealousy of Goku, since he realized that the only way to stand up to who he perceived as a Lower-Class Warrior was to go back to the callous and unfeeling man that he used to be, who didn't think twice before destroying an entire planet. Once Babidi allowed him to do that, he embraced his former darkness. However, the best part about Majin Vegeta was the revelation that he wasn't completely far gone.
In truth, he had changed in a much more positive way because of the influence that his family and Goku had on him during his time on Earth. Because of this, he ultimately decided to sacrifice his life in order to save the Earth, which led to one of the greatest moments in anime history. Not only did this bring Vegeta's character arc full circle and cement him as Dragon Ball's greatest character, but it also confirmed his Majin form as the best in his arsenal.

Only One Other Transformation Comes Close To Majin Vegeta
The Latest In A Long Line
- Ultra Ego is already synonymous with Vegeta, despite being his newest form.
- It perfectly encapsulates Vegeta's journey and fighting style.
Of the many forms that Vegeta has sported over the years, only one comes close to being the best in his arsenal after Majin Vegeta, and that is the recently introduced Ultra Ego form. Ever since Goku unlocked Ultra Instinct in the Tournament of Power, Vegeta had been trying to do the same but always failed due to how different the form was from his own fighting style and overall mindset. So, to get to the same level as his rival, Beerus introduced him to Ultra Ego.
Ultra Ego is the Destroyer Gods' answer to the Angel's Ultra Instinct, which prioritizes taking damage to get stronger rather than automatically avoiding it. This is also the perfect transformation for Vegeta to enjoy, since he has always had a brawler fighting style where he relies more on his brute strength than technique. Although this is his latest transformation, it is by far the only one unique and cool enough to give Majin Vegeta a run for his money.
Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
