A new trailer for the upcoming Dagon Ball Super: Super Hero film was revealed during Shueisha's Jump Festa '22 event. The trailer revealed that the film will release in Japan on April 22, 2022.

The trailer teases a conflict between Goku and the Red Ribbon Army, with Gohan and Piccolo shown fighting off two of the new antagonists introduced in the film.

Hiroshi Kamiya stars as Gamma #1 with Mamoru Miyano playing Gamma #2, two Red Ribbon Army androids sent after Goku and his family. Kamiya is best known for his roles as Koyomi Araragi in the Monogatari series, Yato in Noragami, and Levi Ackerman in Attack on Titan. Miyano is best known for playing Rintaro Okabe in Steins;Gate, Ling Yao in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Death The Kid in Soul Eater. The voices of Toshio Furukawa (Piccolo) and Masako Nozawa (Goku, Gohan) were also featured throughout the trailer.

The film will be entirely in CG, while its predecessor, Broly, was a mix of CG and 2D animation. As its name suggests, there will be an emphasis on traditional superhero elements. Akira Toriyama will once again be heavily involved in the project, handling both the screenplay and character design.

Planning for the film began in 2018, a year prior to Broly’s release. Toriyama will also contribute lines of dialogue to the film. Super Hero will be the first Dragon Ball film to use mostly 3D animation.

Toei Animation will return to produce the film, with Tetsuro Kodama directing and Naoki Satō set to compose the music. Kodama previously served as the CG Sequence Director for Broly, and Satō has composed music for Assassination Classroom, Eureka Seven, and the Pretty Cure series.

The release dates outside of Japan have yet to be announced, and will likely vary depending on the region.
