Dragon Ball Super Reaches Major Milestone

Shueisha revealed that, after DBS Volume 24 was released, the series has reached over 12 million copies in circulation — apparently, this number only refers to the copies in Japan. While this may seem like nothing compared to the original manga, which has sold approximately 260 million copies worldwide, Dragon Ball Super is serialized in a niche magazine, V-JUMP, and not in Shonen Jump.

While Shonen Jump is a weekly magazine with a circulation of about 1.7 million copies per issue, V-JUMP is a monthly magazine that usually sells about 187 thousand copies per issue. Considering this, it is amazing that a title published in V-JUMP has sold so many copies.

Volume 24 concluded the Super Hero Saga, so the next chapter, which will be Chapter 205, will start a brand-new arc. Fans speculate that the series will finally enter the highly anticipated Black Frieza arc, but Toyotaro hasn't revealed anything about the next saga.

A special video was also released to celebrate the new volume:

Could Dragon Ball Super Come Back in April?

The latest issue of V-JUMP, released at the end of March 2025, didn't reveal any information about the return of the series. Fans were expecting some good news, but they were frustrated when the magazine came out.

However, in the last pages of Volume 24, there is a V-JUMP advertisement with the release date of the next issue (April 21), and it features Dragon Ball among many other series. Some fans took this as a sign that DBS might still return this month, but it could just be that they were highlighting the main titles that are currently serialized in the magazine, and not necessarily the titles that will drop new chapters in the upcoming issue.

Unfortunately, it seems fans will have to wait until the magazine is out to learn what the ad really means, and maybe finally get some good news about the series.

The Dragon Ball Super manga is available in English on MANGA Plus. Fans can read the first chapters and some of the latest chapters, while those who buy a subscription can read all the chapters released so far.
