One of the best parts about Dragon Ball Super has been the main characters all getting their own unique transformations. Following Goku unlocking Ultra Instinct in the Tournament of Power, even Gohan and Piccolo have managed to get their own personal forms to keep them up to speed with the franchise's ever-increasing power scaling. As of the Granolah Saga, Vegeta has unlocked his own transformation to keep him on par with Ultra Instinct Goku: Ultra Ego.
5 Dragon Ball Super Characters Stronger Than Ultra Instinct Goku
As of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Ultra Instinct Goku is weaker than his rival, his son, and even the series' next main villain.
In terms of raw Power Level, Ultra Ego Vegeta is actually stronger than Ultra Instinct Goku (for now). Base form Vegeta even beat base Goku at the end of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, temporarily making him the strongest Saiyan after Gohan. Unfortunately, Ultra Ego has a lot of drawbacks and Dragon Ball Super's cast is stronger than ever.
Orange Piccolo Has a Real Chance at Beating Ultra Ego Vegeta
Dragon Ball operates on a very simple logic: the latest power-up is always the strongest. Akira Toriyama confirmed that one of his main goals behind writing Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was to make Piccolo strong enough to rival Goku and Vegeta again, hence the introduction of Orange Piccolo in the film's climax. Piccolo even comments that he's unsure if Goku and Vegeta would be able to beat Cell Max themselves (though it's worth noting Piccolo has never seen Ultra Ego Vegeta in action).
While all signs would point to Ultra Ego Vegeta being stronger than Orange Piccolo as far as Power Levels are concerned, Piccolo might actually be stronger. This wouldn't be the first time Piccolo surpassed Vegeta, either, since he's stronger at the end of the Frieza Saga and during the middle of the Cell Saga. Piccolo is also a smarter fighter than Vegeta is, so he could theoretically push Vegeta to exhaustion without losing to Ultra Ego.
Ultra Ego Vegeta Wasn't Strong Enough To Finish Gas Off Himself
Thanks to Elec's wish on the Dragon Balls, his brother Gas temporarily became the strongest character in the Dragon Ball universe. Goku and Granolah only defeat him by fighting as strategically as possible, but even then, Gas gets up stronger than ever and is only put down for good once Black Frieza shows up and effortlessly kills him. Vegeta doesn't fare much better when he fights Gas himself.
Dragon Ball: 6 Anime Moments That Were Better in the Manga
Akira Toriyama understood his characters better than anyone else, and the Dragon Ball manga's paneling and storytelling is frankly on another level.
Although Ultra Ego grows stronger the more Vegeta fights and takes damage, Elec's wish forces Gas to continuously age and grow stronger anytime someone surpasses him. Vegeta puts up a good fight starting out, for what it's worth, but he pushes himself so hard and so far, that he runs out of Ki before the battle ends and loses Ultra Ego right as he's about to strike a massive blow on Gas. Ultra Ego just isn't practical enough to take on an enemy like Gas.
Granolah Just Barerly Manages to Beat Ultra Ego Vegeta
The Granolah Saga is just L after L for Vegeta. Despite unlocking a new transformation in the arc, Ultra Ego Vegeta does not win a single fight. UE Vegeta doesn't do much better against Granolah than he does Gas. Like Gas, Granolah also made a wish on the Dragon Balls to become the strongest being in the universe. By trading away most of his lifespan, Granolah turns into one of the most overwhelmingly powerful characters in Dragon Ball history.
During their fight, Granolah is depicted as a clear foil to Ultra Ego Vegeta. Where Vegeta fights with raw brutality, Granolah remains precise and strategic, slowly wearing Vegeta down. Worse, Ultra Ego Vegeta forces Granolah to awaken & evolve his left eye to full power, making him even deadlier. In the end, Granolah is able to subdue Granolah before the battle escalates into the final showdown with Gas.
Ultra Ego Vegeta's Got Nothing on Gohan Beast
Gohan Beast is currently the strongest unfused hero in Dragon Ball Super. Following Piccolo's fake-out death in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Gohan releases all his latent potential into his brand new Beast form. From there, Gohan Beast kills Cell Max and then goes to Beerus' Planet in order to spar with Goku. Notably, Gohan Beast is so strong, he actually knocks Goku out of Ultra Instinct during their fight, confirming him as the series' strongest Saiyan.
All 5 Dragon Ball Super Main Characters' Strongest Transformations, Ranked
Dragon Ball Super's main characters are stronger than ever, and each one has a powerful transformation that'll likely be key to stopping Black Frieza.
While Ultra Ego is stronger than Ultra Instinct, there's just no way Vegeta would be able to beat Gohan Beast as he is now. Gohan Beast is just as ferocious as Ultra Ego, but without any of the drawbacks tied to the form. The Saiyan battle royale at the end of Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103 also quietly confirms Gohan as the stronger character. Other than Broly, Gohan is the only character sitting up and is shown having taken the least damage, whereas Vegeta is clearly out for the count.
Black Frieza Defeated Ultra Ego Vegeta With a Single Hit
Although Gohan Beast may be the strongest hero in Dragon Ball Super, Black Frieza is the strongest mortal. Having found an abandoned Hyperbolic Time Chamber while exploring the multiverse, Frieza hid himself away for years and trained until unlocking his Black form. Since Frieza was outside of Universe 7 at the time, this also means Granolah and Gas' wishes to become the most powerful beings in the universe did not take Frieza into consideration.
When Black Frieza suddenly shows up at the end of the Granolah Saga, he kills Gas like he's nothing and then knocks both Ultra Ego Vegeta and Ultra Instinct Goku out in a single strike. Frieza only lets them live because they're just that much weaker than him. The Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero manga adaptation confirms Goku and Vegeta are still training to defeat Black Frieza, but they'll need to grow a lot stronger before they can even stand a chance.
Vegeta Still Has a Long Way To Go Before He's On Beerus' Level
In many ways, Ultra Ego is Vegeta's homage to Beerus. The Granolah Saga begins with Beerus giving Vegeta a God of Destruction earring and ends with Vegeta unlocking a form that very much lifts from his training with Beerus. Ultra Ego stands in stark contrast to Ultra Instinct. Where Ultra Instinct is a technique developed by angels for angels, Ultra Ego is a technique developed by Gods of Destruction for the specific goal of destroying.
Unfortunately, even Ultra Ego isn't enough to put Vegeta on Beerus' level. Beerus is still the strongest God of Destruction in Dragon Ball Super, and anytime Vegeta or Goku make substantial progress, it's revealed that Beerus is still one step ahead. It's unlikely Vegeta will ever be able to surpass Beerus at this rate, but Ultra Ego at least levels the playing field.
Vegito is Tied With Gogeta as the Strongest Suepr Saiyan & Character in Dragon Ball
It stands to reason that a character who's half-Vegeta is going to be stronger than Vegeta. Both Vegito and Gogeta are fusions of Goku & Vegeta, combining all their powers and abilities into one supremely powerful fused fighter. Vegito is the result of Goku and Vegeta fusing with the Potara earrings, and was previously the strongest character in Dragon Ball Z. Vegito was last seen in the Goku Black Saga, where he came very close to defeating Fused Zamasu before the fusion wore off due to Vegito's raw power.
Vegito is an interesting case. He's so powerful, the Potara earrings can only keep Goku and Vegeta fused for a few minutes, especially when Vegito turns Super Saiyan Blue. That said, Vegito is so powerful, he could likely take on Ultra Ego Vegeta as just a regular Super Saiyan. The same goes for Gogeta, the fusion dance variant of Goku and Vegeta fusing together.
