Dragon Ball Genkidama Matsuri has officially confirmed that a new Dragon Ball Super remake starting with a fresh adaptation of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods will release Fall 2026. Titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, President of Capsule Corporation Akio Iyoku describes the new anime as an enhanced version of the story that improves upon the original Dragon Ball Super story arc.

New Dragon Ball Super 2 Anime Officially Revealed, Moro Arc in Production

Dragon Ball Super is officially back with a brand new anime eight years later.

Dragon Ball Super's original Beerus Saga was plagued by animation issues and poor pacing, so it looks like Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is set to course correct all its issues with a fresh art style reminiscent of Dragon Ball Super: Broly. The new anime will be heavily based off of Akira Toriyama's original draft for Battle of Gods, and realistically lead into future remakes of the rest of Dragon Ball Super's sagas.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will air on Fuji TV in Fall 2026, before likely leading into a remake of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F, the Universe 6 Tournament arc, the Goku Black Saga, the Universe Survival Saga, and Dragon Ball Super: Broly before the release of Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol anime, which is set to adapt the Moro Saga from Toyotarou's Dragon Ball Super anime. All we know about the new Dragon Ball Super anime so far is that it'll air this Fall and remake Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods in an enhanced version of the storyline based on Akira Toriyama's original draft of the movie.

The Dragon Ball Super Remake's Art Direction is Taking Cues From Dragon Ball Super: Broly

While not 1:1 with Dragon Ball Super: Broly's art direction and art style, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is clearly taking inspiration from what many consider to be the best animated Dragon Ball movie. The trailer for the Dragon Ball Super remake shows off several key moments from Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, and the difference in quality from Dragon Ball Super's first few episodes is immediately clear. The characters look downright amazing, the animation and action are the most fluid they've ever looked, and the overall direction feels directly inspired by DBS: Broly's frenetic and fantastic action.

Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta rage boosted in Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods
The Dragon Ball Super Remake Can Finally Fix DBZ’s SSJ3 Vegeta Plot Hole

The Dragon Ball Super Remake needs to make some big changes, or else Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods' most important scene no longer makes sense.

The trailer teases Super Saiyan God Goku's final battle with Beerus, which looks leagues better than DBZ: Battle of Gods, let alone Dragon Ball Super. Also included are the God Ritual, Goku's first fight with Beerus, and Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta's rage boost against Beerus after the God of Destruction slaps Bulma. It doesn't seem like Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be taking Dragon Ball DAIMA's SSJ3 Vegeta and SSJ4 Goku into consideration, but it's also possible the trailer didn't want to spoil these major developments. Either way, Dragon Ball fans are in for a major treat when Dragon Ball Super officially returns in Fall 2026.
