A new batch of possible Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero characters has just been leaked, drawing from Dragon Ball Z’s late Buu Saga. As its October 8 release date draws ever closer, Bandai Namco has been unveiling Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s already massive roster of playable heroes and villains from across the Dragon Ball franchise one gameplay trailer at a time.
Many fans have noticed a pattern with Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s recent wave of character reveal trailers, in that they all correspond to Dragon Ball Z’s different story arcs. Late July saw such a Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero trailer themed after the Namek and Frieza Sagas, featuring many of the intergalactic tyrant’s minions and alternate transformations. Earlier this month, another trailer showcased the Android and Cell Sagas, with first looks at Dr. Gero’s Androids, Cell’s many dreaded forms, and the powerful Super Saiyan 2 transformation Gohan takes on to end his threat once and for all.
If this pattern holds true, then the next Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero trailer could be themed after the Buu Saga, one of Dragon Ball Z’s final arcs that sees the world threatened by the titular Majin Buu. A pair of pages in the upcoming issue of V-Jump magazine seems to confirm this, as shown in scans shared by Twitter user DbsHype. Among the characters featured in the screenshots on these pages is Ultimate Gohan, yet another transformation Gohan achieves to battle the threat of Buu. Sure enough, the pink Majin can be seen in the form of Super Buu, the result of Evil Buu consuming his good half.

Two of Super Buu’s fusion forms, Buutenks (which Buu becomes after absorbing Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks) and Buuhan (the result of his consuming the aforementioned Ultimate Gohan), can be seen in the scans, as well as his smaller Kid Buu form performing his infamous Genocide Blast attack. Most of these transformations were playable in past Dragon Ball: Budokai Tenkaichi games, as well as other prominent Buu Saga characters like Majin Vegeta.
Other Twitter users are speculating that the trailer confirming these leaked Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero characters will be shown during the upcoming Gamescom 2024 event next week. So far, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has 130 official playable characters, including key Buu Saga characters like Majin Buu’s base form and many of the Super Saiyan transformations that were introduced towards the end of Dragon Ball Z.
