Summary
- The Stakes For The Arc Have To Be Incredibly High - Characters should face multiverse-level threats in the upcoming Black Frieza arc.
- A Chance For All The Main Characters To Shine - Each Universe 7 hero needs a moment to shine against powerful enemies.
- Vegeta Should Finally Get The Closure To His Arc - Vegeta defeating Frieza would be a fitting end to both of their character arcs.
The Black Frieza arc is definitely the most awaited in the entirety of the Dragon Ball Super franchise when it makes its return. For now, fans are still in the dark about when the series will come back, or if it ever even will, since there have been minimal updates regarding the story following the passing of the legendary mangaka of the franchise, Akira Toriyama, in March of 2024.
However, the common consensus among the fandom is that there is too much of this beloved story that's left untold, chief of which is the Black Frieza arc, which was teased at the end of Dragon Ball Super's Granolah storyline. If the series ever does make a comeback, it will likely return with the Black Frieza arc, which can only really work if there are a few things it does right, so let's take a look at what these could be.
Dragon Ball: Goku And Vegeta May Have A Contender For Best Duo In The Series
Although Goku and Vegeta are Dragon Ball's premier duo, many believe that Gohan and Piccolo may be on the same level!
The Stakes For The Arc Have To Be Incredibly High
No More Staying In Universe 7
- The stakes of the story need to be much greater than they have been.
In Dragon Ball Super, the concept of the multiverse was introduced to the franchise, which opened the door to innumerable possibilities for where the story could go in the future. Much of Super focused on this aspect of world building to be fair, but the arcs after the Tournament of Power kept the entire story solely within Universe 7. While these arcs were some of the best in the franchise, the stakes in the grand scheme of things weren't the highest, making them feel a little formulaic at times.
Please restore all of the universes that were erased!
With Frieza's return at the end of the Granolah arc, fans got a glimpse of the most powerful mortal in the entire multiverse, since his newest form was far greater than the strongest states Goku and Vegeta had reached with their Divine Techniques. Something of this caliber has to have massive repercussions throughout the multiverse, especially when taking into consideration the kind of megalomaniacal tyrant that Frieza is. He always wants more power and wants to overthrow the Destroyer Gods.
A Chance For All The Main Characters To Shine
They All Need The Spotlight
- Each of the main Universe 7 should have a moment to shine.
Ever since the release of Volume 24 of the Super manga, Toyotarou has teased the focal characters of the story going forward, which are Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Broly, and Piccolo. Although there are variations in their strength, they are all around the same tier of power, as has been explained multiple times leading up to where the story is at its current moment. Because of this, it's difficult to see how each of these Z-Fighters will shine in the Black Frieza arc, seeing as how there is currently only one insanely powerful enemy to face.
I wanted to show the equilibrium of power between the five of them, which is why I composed it that way. - Toyotarou.
Admittedly, Black Frieza, at the current moment, could easily destroy each of them, but the arc itself would be fairly uninteresting if they all spent the entirety of its length facing only him without the prospect of introducing new and interesting villains. This is why one of the greatest ways to tell the story of this arc is by introducing subordinates for Frieza that are somehow at a similar level of power or can counter each hero specifically, which will give them all a battle in the arc and allow them to shine equally.
Dragon Ball: The Many Foes Of The Granolah Arc, Explained
The Granolah arc was one of the best in Super, and it came filled to the brim with amazing villains, so let's take a look at who they were!
Vegeta Should Finally Get The Closure To His Arc
Something That Has Been Built Up For Decades
- Vegeta being the one to defeat Frieza has been the crux of his story arc.
It's common knowledge in the universe that Frieza was the one to end the Saiyan race and destroy their planet. While they all suffered for it, no Saiyan suffered more than Vegeta as he lost everything he was destined to gain, birthing within him a hatred for the Frost Demon greater than what anyone else has. His dream of ascending to become the first Super Saiyan in history was purely to destroy Frieza, but was always proven to be too weak to finish the job.
A God of Destruction taught me that power derived solely from instinct is unbounded.
Because of this, fans have long been convinced that there is no one more fit to finally put an end to the Galactic Tyrant than the Saiyan Prince, since this would be the perfect way to cap off the arc of Dragon Ball's best-written character. With his new Black Frieza transformation, the series' most iconic villain has once again left Vegeta in the dust, so now fans think it's high time for him to face his greatest enemy in a fair fight, finally ending the villain's rampage in the process.
Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
