Dragon Ball: Age 1000 is the latest video game in the Dragon Ball franchise. While little is known about the game for now, everything seems to indicate that Age 1000 was Akira Toriyama's attempt at bringing back Dragon Ball Online. The original sequel to Dragon Ball Z before Dragon Ball Super became canon, Dragon Ball Online was set hundreds of years into DBZ's future and had a full timeline written out by Akira Toriyama.

5 Dragon Ball Super Characters Stronger Than Gohan Beast

As powerful as Gohan Beast is, he's not invincible, and there are a few Dragon Ball Super characters who have the potential to defeat him.

Notably, Toriyama included the fates for every major character: including Goku and Vegeta. In Dragon Ball Online's timeline, Goku and Vegeta leave Earth for one final battle once they realize they're getting old & slowing down. Little is known about their fight, but with Dragon Ball: Age 1000 set in the literal Age 1000 of Dragon Ball's timeline, the game could officially bring back this forgotten final battle and finally make Goku & Vegeta's last fight canon.

Akira Toriyama Wrote a Final Life or Death Battle For Goku & Vegeta in Dragon Ball Online

According to Dragon Ball Online, both Goku and Vegeta mysteriously disappear in Age 801. Goku and Vegeta would both be in their 60s at this point in the story. Knowing that they would soon pass their prime and eventually die, Goku and Vegeta leave together for one final battle in outer space. No one ever sees this fight, but years later, a supernova explosion filled with Ki can be seen from Earth, implying that Goku and Vegeta's battle has finally come to a close.

Neither Saiyan ever returns to Earth, implying they both died together during their battle. Goku and Vegeta are Dragon Ball's greatest rivals, so it's fitting that Akira Toriyama wrote them out by giving them one epic showdown. If Dragon Ball: Age 1000 does canonize this final battle, this means fans only have roughly two decades of Goku and Vegeta's life left, as Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is currently up to Age 783 in the series' timeline.

Dragon Ball: Age 1000 Could Be a Secret Dragon Ball Online Reboot

Age 1000 is an important year in Dragon Ball Online's timeline, as this is when Xeno Trunks travels to in time to recruit new members of his Time Patrol. Elements of Dragon Ball Online eventually made their way into the Dragon Ball Xenoverse games, so there's a precedent for Akira Toriyama trying to find ways to reintroduce DBO details back into the series. Dragon Ball: Age 1000's title alone is a huge sign that the game may be a Dragon Ball Online reboot.

It’s the Dawn of a New Era For Dragon Ball Super

Between a Moro arc anime and a remake of the series up to this point, Dragon Ball Super's future has never been brighter.

More importantly, the game isn't actually called Dragon Ball: Age 1000; this is just the project's working title. It's entirely possible Age 1000 could be Xenoverse 3, but since Xenoverse is already an existing sub-series, it doesn't make sense to obscure the title if it's just going to be XV3. Hiding details to soft launch a Dragon Ball Online reboot, however, would generate a considerable amount of hype, finally bringing Toriyama's forgotten sequel to DBZ back into the franchise's canon and lore.

No One Knows Who Won Goku & Vegeta's Final Fight

By far the most interesting thing about Goku and Vegeta's final battle is that no one is around to see how it ends. Even by Age 1000 in Dragon Ball Online, it's unclear who wins. Given the supernova explosion and the fact neither Saiyan returns to Earth, it's entirely possible they both mutually kill each other at the same time, similar to how Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero ends with both Goku and Vegeta knocking each other at the same time (although Vegeta falls down a second later).

Goku and Vegeta have gone back and forth many times throughout Dragon Ball history, but Goku's never actually beaten the Prince of All Saiyans. Vegeta wins every single one of their fights: either by having the higher Power Level (Saiyan Saga), taking a cheap-shot (Majin Buu Saga), or fair & square (DBS: Super Hero). It would be fitting for Goku to win their final battle in Dragon Ball Online, but Vegeta has the better track record. Either way, Dragon Ball: Age 1000 could do a major service to the series by bringing back one of DBO's most compelling timeline additions.
