Legendary Super Saiyan is far and away the strongest standard Super Saiyan form in Dragon Ball. Even without access to God Ki, Legendary Super Saiyan Broly was so strong, he was able to defeat Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta tag-teaming him. Not even Super Saiyan Gogeta was strong enough to beat Broly without turning Super Saiyan Blue.
Of course, a lot of this is due to Broly's latent potential, but that doesn't change just how overpowered Legendary Super Saiyan is as a form. Only a few transformations in Dragon Ball Super are stronger than Legendary Super Saiyan, and even then, just barely. Broly gets stronger the longer he fights, so his Legendary Super Saiyan form has the potential to become the most powerful form in the series.
5 True Ultra Instinct is Goku's Strongest Form Right Now
Vegeta and Gohan may be stronger than Goku currently, but that doesn't stop Ultra Instinct from being one of the strongest forms in the entire series. During the Granolah the Survivor Saga, Goku unlocks True Ultra Instinct, a new and improved version of UI he can trigger like a regular transformation while also stacking his different Super Saiyan forms on top of, allowing him to make use of Ultra Instinct's autonomous movement and his various SSJ Power Level multipliers.
Goku, unfortunately, was unable to trigger Ultra Instinct manually during Dragon Ball Super: Broly, on account of the film taking place shortly after the Tournament of Power, but after training with Merus in the Moro arc, he has no issues turning Ultra Instinct on and off like any other form. Now that Goku's fully mastered Ultra Instinct, Broly doesn't stand a chance against him – until Broly learns to control his full power, that is.
4 Vegeta Would Never Have Lost if He Had Ultra Ego During Dragon Ball Super: Broly
After unlocking Ultra Ego while fighting Granolah, Vegeta became slightly stronger than Goku. Unfortunately, Goku's mastery of Ultra Instinct far surpasses Vegeta's grasp of Ultra Ego, but his base Power Level and skill set was enough for him to defeat Goku at the end of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. If Vegeta had access to Ultra Ego in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, there's no chance he'd lose to LSSJ Broly.
Dragon Ball Super: Strongest Characters Who Could Kill a God, Ranked
As absurdly powerful as Dragon Ball Super's Gods are, an impressive few characters have grown strong enough to even kill a God of Destruction.
Even unmastered, Ultra Ego is an extremely dangerous and powerful transformation. Just like Broly, Ultra Ego Vegeta gets stronger the longer he fights, especially once he starts tanking damage. Assuming Broly doesn't knock him out beforehand, the power boost Vegeta would get from Ultra Ego would be more than enough to take down the Legendary Super Saiyan. Even without UE, Vegeta is currently strong enough to fight Gohan Beast while using Super Saiyan Blue Evolved, as seen in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103.
3 Gohan Beast is Objectively Stronger Than Legendary Super Saiyan Broly
Going by the golden rule of Dragon Ball, the latest villain is always stronger than the last. This means that Cell Max is absolutely stronger than Legendary Super Saiyan Broly. Lending more evidence to this idea is the fact that Piccolo doesn't believe Goku or Vegeta would have been able to defeat Cell Max. While Piccolo wasn't present for the Granolah the Survivor Saga, he was around for Dragon Ball Super: Broly and the Moro Saga, so he knows what Goku and Vegeta are capable of.
The fact Gohan Beast is the only character strong enough to kill Cell Max puts him in a league above Broly. Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103 doubles down on this by having Gohan Beast spar with Super Saiyan Broly in a fight. Granted, Broly does not use Legendary Super Saiyan during this battle, but Gohan Beast sitll manages to maintain the upper hand and ultimately defeats him in the Super Saiyan battle royale depicted in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103.
2 Black Frieza is the Most Powerful Transformation in Dragon Ball Super
Black Frieza is by far the strongest unique transformation in Dragon Ball Super. By training for ten years in a Hyperbolic Time Chamber he found while exploring the multiverse, Frieza goes from weaker to Legendary Super Saiyan to strong enough to kill Gas and defeat Goku & Vegeta without breaking a single sweat. The only reason Black Frieza doesn't kill Goku or Vegeta is simply because he wasn't there to fight them.
Dragon Ball Super Manga Gets Disappointing Update 1 Full Year Since Hiatus
The April 2026 issue of V-Jump has revealed that Toyotarou's Dragon Ball Super manga is still on hiatus, with no return date in sight.
Goku and Vegeta spend all of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero training to beat Black Frieza, and the fact they're actively training Broly on Beerus' Planet indicates that not even the Legendary Super Saiyan form is strong enough to stop him. Broly will have a better chance once he masters LSSJ, but as it stands, Black Frieza would kill Legendary Super Saiyan Broly with relative ease.
1 Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta Was Already Strong Enough to Defeat LSSJ Broly
Gogeta might very well be the strongest character in Dragon Ball Super, but it's unlikely Goku and Vegeta will ever fuse into him again. Gogeta is a last resort, and not one Goku or Vegeta care to rely on. They only bothered fusing into Gogeta at all because Legendary Super Saiyan Broly proved to be so out of control, they couldn't stop him as just Super Saiyan Blues.

By using his own version of Super Saiyan Blue, SSB Gogeta utterly outclasses Legendary Super Saiyan Broly in every respect. In Akira Toriyama's original draft for Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Gogeta Blue even brings LSSJ Broly to the literal sun for their final battle. If there's anyone powerful enough to defeat a Legendary Super Saiyan, it's the strongest fusion of all time: Gogeta Blue.
