Dragon Ball is one of the greatest shonen anime of all time, with the incredible fights and compelling characters ensuring that every arc is a joy to witness. Seeing the heroes conquer overwhelming odds time and time again to secure victory never gets old.
Given how overwhelming some threats are, heroes team up in trios from time to time to make things fairer. The same applies to some of the series' villains, who overwhelm others with their teamwork and numbers.
Krillin, Gohan, Bulma
A Fun Trio Who Head To Namek Together
The Namek Saga starts on a strong note, with Gohan getting his time to shine without Piccolo or Goku with him. Instead, it's Krillin and Bulma who are paired with him to make for some fun moments.
While Bulma may be left back on the spaceship when the duo have to engage in combat, that takes nothing away from the dynamic of this trio. In the short time they're together, new Dragon Ball Z fans will love the three characters in no time.
Cabba, Caulifla, Kale
The Universe 6 Saiyans Who Reach Silly Levels Of Power In No Time
Universe 6 is a realm of peaceful Saiyans who are ridiculously powerful, even though they only have access to the base Super Saiyan form. The sole exception is Kale, whose Legendary Super Saiyan power is in a class of its own.
The Universe 6 Saiyans are powerful in their own right, but can't match up to the strength of accomplished fighters like Goku by their lonesome. It's only when Caulifla and Kale team up that things get dire for everyone's favorite Saiyan, but the imperfect Ultra Instinct form arrives to throw a wrench in their plans.
Goku, Krillin, Yamcha
The Original Dragon Ball Trio
It would be unfair not to give due props to the original Dragon Ball trio that long-time fans love. Goku and Krillin transformed from rivals to buddies, with Yamcha and his Wolf Fang Fist joining the fray not long after.
Dragon Ball: 6 Transformations Used Too Many Times In The Series
Although these transformations are impressive, they were ultimately used too many times throughout the Dragon Ball franchise.
Seeing these characters evolve before the events of Dragon Ball Z makes for a fun sight. While Yamcha may eventually turn into a joke character, Goku reaches even greater heights, and Krillin manages to hold his own as a human (even though he may also be ridiculed as the punching bag of the series).
Future Trunks, Future Gohan, Future Bulma
The Last Surviving Members Of The Original Gang In A Post-Apocalyptic Future
The future where the Androids wreak havoc is a sorry sight to see. Everyone is dead, with the only people alive from the original lineup of heroes being Trunks, Gohan, and Bulma.
After numerous conflicts, Gohan eventually falls into the hands of the Androids. The agony of his mentor's loss turns Trunks into a Super Saiyan, who travels back in time to inform the people of the present timeline about the Android threat before they're also doomed.
Android 16, Android 17, Android 18
The Androids Who Wreak Havoc At First But Eventually Become Good People
The Androids are some of the most iconic anime antagonists of all time. Fans love how menacing these characters are despite being so unserious, going on an impromptu road trip of sorts after Android 18 schooled Vegeta.
While 17 & 18 can be particularly vicious, Android 16 develops a love for Earth and its creatures. This unique dynamic ensures that the antagonists of the Android Saga are a blast to interact with, especially after Cell joins the picture and 16 becomes a hero.
Goku, Vegeta, Broly
The Newest Super Saiyan Trio Poised To Reach Greater Heights
Broly's canon introduction in Dragon Ball has been quite impressive, with the Legendary Super Saiyan boasting so much power that Goku and Vegeta had to fuse to tackle this threat. He's a gentle giant who was tormented by his father and is more than capable of turning a new leaf.
8 Best Characters Who Have Appeared In Every Dragon Ball Series, Ranked
The massive cast of Dragon Ball is constantly growing. Of the franchise's many characters, a handful have stuck around from the very beginning.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero has made it clear that Broly is joining the heroes and is going to train with them from now on. Fans can't wait to see the heights this incredible character reaches, especially when two of Universe 7's strongest warriors are his training partners.
Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks
Team Up Several Times Against Cell And Zamasu
Goku and Vegeta have been part of some of the most iconic trios in the series. Future Trunks is one of the Saiyans who teams up with them time and time again, with the Cell Games showing a glimpse of how tantalizing this team-up was.
The full potential is realized during the Future Trunks Saga in Dragon Ball Super, where the trio gives their all to fight Zamasu in some of the most thrilling battles in the series. Zamasu pushes every warrior to reach new heights, with Trunks acquiring a brand-new transformation that's strong enough to fight on almost equal footing with the two Super Saiyan Blue warriors.
Goku, Gohan, Goten
One Of The Strongest Families Of All Time
Goku, Gohan, and Goten are part of the most iconic family in anime history. These Saiyans are gifted and can easily reach new heights in power when the situation calls for it, although some may argue that Goten still has a long way to go before fulfilling his potential.
While fighting Broly for the second time, Goten's errant wish leads to his father joining the battle against this monstrous Saiyan. He motivates his sons to get up and pool in their powers, unleashing a Kamehameha for the ages that takes out Broly until his next appearance in the DBZ movies.
