Dragon Ball is a legendary series that is still going strong to this day courtesy of a resurgence brought about by Dragon Ball Super. Watching everyone's favorite Z Warriors play a major role in the realm of anime once again was a joy to witness, and fans can't wait to see what else this series has in store for them after the release of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
While Dragon Ball has always been an action-heavy series, this shonen anime has had its fair share of comedic moments across the series that have been fuelled by the series' many funny characters. Keeping this in mind, here are some Dragon Ball characters who supply a ton of comedic moments in the series time and time again.
10 Krillin
There are several characters in Dragon Ball that have become glorified punching bags as the series has evolved over time. One such character is Krillin, who has died so many times that it has become a running gag at this point.
Krillin becomes the butt of jokes time and time again, which is a shame since he's certainly pretty powerful in his own right. Of course, being the first character to be knocked out of the Tournament of Power certainly doesn't help his case.
9 Mr. Satan
Mr. Satan is a character who's recognized by everyone on Earth as one of the strongest martial artists around. However, compared to even the weakest Z Fighter, he's a joke and a fraud who tries to salvage his reputation at every given opportunity.
That being said, it's pretty hilarious to see him scramble to save his reputation at every given opportunity. The lengths he goes to for the same are pretty funny, and his friendship with Majin Buu is definitely a highlight in the series.
8 Yajirobe
A short, stocky, and clumsy samurai who is cowardly as well, there are really not a lot of positive ways to summarize Yajirobe's character. That being said, props should be given to him for cutting off Vegeta's tail and letting the warriors of Earth stop this villainous Saiyan in his tracks.
Over time, he just becomes a source of comedic relief across the series, which isn't really a bad thing. His partnership with Korin makes him invaluable whenever the party needs Senzu Beans as well!
7 Yamcha
There was a time when Yamcha was a serious warrior who could hold his own in battle. However, it took one single Saibaman to turn this character into an absolute joke in Dragon Ball.
Even his relationship with Bulma ended up with him being shelved to the sidelines while Vegeta ended up taking his place permanently. Yamcha may not have the greatest luck in Dragon Ball, but the laughs he provides make him well worth checking out in the series.
6 Majin Buu
Majin Buu initially appeared as an antagonist that could destroy everyone and everything if he wanted. However, it turned out that he was actually good at heart and simply didn't know how many lives he was killing off with his destructive antics.
This led to him expelling his evil nature and becoming one of the more lovable characters in Dragon Ball. His relentless appetite for sweets coupled with this hilarious voice has slowly led to fans changing their opinion about this funny ex-villain.
5 Old Kai
The gods in Dragon Ball are definitely quite powerful, but that doesn't stop them from being pretty hilarious as well. A great example of this is Old Kai, who always provides some much-needed moments of levity throughout Dragon Ball.
The fact that he is the reason Gohan unlocked his Mystic form is still hard to believe. His permanent fusion is also a source of constant hilarity and proves that even the gods aren't exempt from being made fun of in Dragon Ball.
4 Gotenks
Gotenks is the fusion of Goten and Trunks that is spawned from the need to create a fighter that can stand toe-to-toe with Majin Buu. While this fusion definitely has the desired result, it also creates a fighter who is extremely cocky and stubborn.
As a result, Gotenks is as funny as he is strong, even if Piccolo might not find his tactics amusing. Following the emergence of Kid Buu, Gotenks' importance in the main story dwindles and he becomes a joke character once again.
3 Emperor Pilaf
Emperor Pilaf is the first major antagonist in Dragon Ball, who has his plans for world domination thwarted by a perverted Oolong just when he was going to get his diabolical wish. After having his base completely smashed by Goku, Pilaf becomes a joke character for the rest of Dragon Ball.
Watching him inadvertently turn into a kid during the events of Dragon Ball Super is pretty hilarious indeed. The bumbling trio of the Pilaf Gang is pretty funny to witness, and it's certainly odd to see that one of these members — Mai — ends up with Trunks in an alternate timeline!
2 Master Roshi
Master Roshi was introduced as one of the most powerful fighters back when Dragon Ball came out. He teaches Krillin and Goku but also reveals a pretty perverted side that is used mainly for laughs in the series.
That being said, Roshi also regains his power and becomes a part of Universe 7's team in the Tournament of Power. However, his perverted side remains dominant for the majority of the series, leading to him being one of the funniest characters on the show... And also one of the more problematic ones too.
1 Goku
Goku is the protagonist of the Dragon Ball series, playing a major role in most of the Sagas across Dragon Ball. This lovable Saiyan thirsts for battle but is also extremely stupid outside of most physical confrontations.
It's this ignorance that leads itself to some really hilarious moments across the series. Goku may be one of the strongest characters on the show, but it's his funny side that makes him truly endearing as a protagonist.
