Neve Gallus is a detective, so it makes sense that there's a dark mystery playing out in the shadows of Minrathous. Evil deeds are afoot in Dock Town, and a demon seems to be causing all the commotion in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

The first quest connected to the demon is "In Memoriam," which you can start before collecting every Dragon Age: The Veilguard companion. The next quest is "The Snake Nest Deal," which you can start by returning to Dock Town after your companion roster is full.

How to Start The Snake Nest Deal in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

"The Snake Nest Deal" appears as an exclamation point on the Minrathous map after you gather all your companions. It may or may not be available depending on whether you protected Minrathous or Treviso earlier, and whether you completed "In Memoriam" or avoided it.

If the quest is available, you'll speak to a woman named Sabina, who's worried for her husband, Atticus. Atticus went to help a friend at the Snake Nest bar, but hasn't come back. Once the conversation ends, follow the quest marker to the east. You'll eventually reach a well, and behind the well is a bar with a bright green magic sign out front. This is the Snake Nest.

Dragon Age Veilguard Snake Nest Documents
Burned documents offer no help in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

At the corner of the bar, you can speak to a very unhelpful bartender. You can also check a document to the right of the bartender, a sleeping drunk to the left, and a pile of burned documents by the fire. Sadly, the documents are too burned to read.

Nothing in the bar is helpful, so turn around and go back outside. There's a locked green door on the opposite wall, and bloodstains on the ground in front of it. Follow the bloodstains by climbing the ladder to the left.

The bloodstains lead to a bloody outfit. Turn left from the outfit to enter the apartment of Linus, the owner of the Snake Nest. You can find several more documents here (along with a chest), but the most important item is on the desk to the left of the bed. You'll know you can continue when Rook says you have to talk to the bartender again.

This time she'll mention how Linus is acting strangely, and give you a key to the storeroom. She'll also speak to Neve if she's present, but Neve doesn't have to be in your party for this quest. Unlock the green door with the Storage Key, then interact with the suspicious book on the bookshelf to open a secret area. Pull the lever on the left wall to call the elevator, and ride it down.

Dragon Age Veilguard Snake Nest Ritual Site
A bloody ritual under the Snake Nest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

The elevator leads down to the crypts below Minrathous. You can find a document by following the path to the left, but this is otherwise a dead end. Instead, you need to drop into the pit straight ahead. Just be careful not to fall onto the spikes.

Once you're down, turn around, smash through the planks, and then slide down to the left. You'll find yourself in a bloody ritual site where Linus fed the demon, with Linus himself hanging from a rope to the left. Read the document beneath him to learn what happened and get Linus' Key. You can also read another document on the table to the right. To continue, jump over the low wall left of Linus. You'll use Linus' Key to open the door. Behind it is a large chest, and inside the cage is what's left of Atticus. Inspect the body to get the proof you need for Sabina.

To leave this area, smash through the boards to the right of Atticus and kick down the wooden beam. This will smash through a weak wall and give you a path back to the ritual circle. You'll need it because you need to move two power crystals and you can't climb walls with a power crystal in tow.

Take the first crystal across and place it in the nearby power node. This opens a portal back to the top of the pit. But before you take it, go back across the beam and grab the second crystal. You can place it in a node on the far side of the portal, and it builds a bridge across the pit. You can then fix a second portal that leads to another location in the crypts, or use the zipline to reach a large chest puzzle. No matter how you get out, you can fast-travel back to Sabina to complete this quest. Your rewards include 500 XP, +100 Shadow Dragons Strength, and a ring.
