Dragon Age: The Veilguard could release on October 29, at least as far as a recent leak has possibly revealed. While it's unfortunate to see a plausible release date before BioWare itself could do it, there's no doubt many Dragon Age: Veilguard fans are itching for answers and now they possibly have one.
Of course, it comes as no real surprise either. Known insider Jeff Grubb, who has long reported on the development pipeline of Dragon Age: Veilguard, recently said that October was the target for its release. At that time, he acknowledged that it could have been changed without his knowledge, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Preview - Here We Go Again
Dragon Age: The Veilguard makes plenty of improvements to Inquisition's decade old formula but retains everything that makes the franchise special.
Fans should take this information with a grain of salt until BioWare confirms the release date, but the leak is about as legitimate as possible. Dark Horse recently published its webpages for The Art of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, for both its regular and deluxe editions. It was seemingly a mistake because both pages were pulled shortly thereafter, and each webpage listed the release date for the art book as October 30. Some have speculated that the art book and game will be released day and date together, but given that October 30 is a Wednesday, that feels unlikely. Most games are released on Tuesdays or Fridays, and every Dragon Age game has specifically been released on Tuesdays.
Dragon Age Game Release Dates
- Dragon Age: Origins - November 3, 2009
- Dragon Age 2 - March 8, 2011
- Dragon Age: Inquisition - November 18, 2014
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard - October 29?
Furthermore, an art book and its associated game do not have to be released close together. There have been plenty of art books that came out months later, but that doesn't mean this speculation is ungrounded. Both Dragon Age: Inquisition and its artbook released on November 18, 2014, setting some precedent even if that was 10 years ago. Regardless, between Grubb's comments, this Dark Horse leak, and Dragon Age's release history, October 29 seems like the most viable date with the information revealed thus far.
It remains very possible that Dark Horse made a mistake or that the game is set to come out a couple of weeks before the artbook. As it stands, any Tuesday in October could work, but October 29 seems to be the best bet. Fans should hold tight for BioWare to confirm its release date either way because, no matter what, fans will be diving into Dragon Age: The Veilguard's story, romancing companions, and saving Thedas (yet again) soon enough.
