Summary

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard will contain nudity, but Bioware isn't offering up many details, asking players to find out for themselves how much will be on display in the upcoming RPG.
  • Past games in the Dragon Age series have contained some nudity, but fans are wondering if Bioware will push the limit a bit more with The Veilguard.
  • When asked how much nudity would be featured, game director Corrine Busche responded by saying that the game is a "mature RPG."

While it's known that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will contain nudity in some form, BioWare is keeping very quiet as to the extent of it, inviting players of Dragon Age: The Veilguard the opportunity to explore and find out for themselves just how much will be on display when the game launches.

Previously going by Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, the game was rebranded to Dragon Age: The Veilguard earlier this year, and since then, fans have been treated to more and more information about the game before its planned release later this year. These teasers include who the player character will be, explorable locations, and the companions that players will be traveling alongside. With Dragon Age: Inquisition almost ten years old, fans of the Dragon Age series are understandably eager for a new story and hungry for any information they can get about the franchise's next installment.

As reported by GameInformer, Dragon Age: The Veilguard will contain nudity, and this can be seen from as early as the character creation screen, in which players can customize the chest size of a female Rook, the playable character for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Only topless nudity could be seen, raising questions as to how far the nudity in The Veilguard would go . When BioWare was asked whether this meant there would be more nudity present elsewhere in the game, game director Corrine Busche only responded by saying that Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a "mature RPG." Slight nudity has appeared in past Dragon Age games, but the ability to adjust chest size is a previously unseen addition, and combined with the coy response given by the game's director, some fans believe that more nudity than usual will be present in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

BioWare Isn't Offering Too Much Info About Nudity In Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Many aspects have drawn fans of Dragon Age to the series. Be it worldbuilding, storytelling, combat, or characters, the franchise has remained a fan favorite for the past fifteen years. Romance arcs with NPCs are a big draw for some, especially with Dragon Age's long history of well-made and lovable characters. From the awkward, half-clothed romance scenes in Dragon Age: Origins to the more explicit scenes found in Dragon Age: Inquisition, BioWare has never shied away from intimate moments between characters. While BioWare is withholding comment regarding the level of nudity players can expect, the title may tread new ground for the franchise.

BioWare has a history of pushing the boundaries of sex and romance in gaming, becoming a hot topic with the launch of Mass Effect in 2008 for the title's sexual content. Society and the gaming industry have come a long way since then, and the inclusion of sex and nudity in contemporary RPGs has become more commonplace. With the recent reveal of the romance options available in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, fans who are ready for a new fictional relationship have a lot to look forward to.
