Dragon Age is a franchise that has introduced the player to an assortment of interesting characters. From loyal companions to some of the strongest villains in RPG history, Dragon Age has known its fair share of overpowered characters. Although the player hasn't always been able to take advantage of these OP characters, they have still shown themselves to be some of the most powerful in the franchise through their actions during the various stories.

Best Dragon Age Characters, Ranked

The Dragon Age series is known for flooding its games with many interesting and memorable characters. The following characters stand out as the best.

5

In a world filled with magic, gods, and other such things, there are plenty of companions and the sort that can be considered OP, with these characters in particular being the strongest. These characters have been ranked by how OP they have appeared in the Dragon Age games, and therefore moments within the other media won't be considered.

8 Fenris

Lyrium Powers To Yank Out Hearts

  • Warrior companion
  • The Lyrium markings on his skin give him immense power.
  • Appears in Dragon Age 2

Starting off strong, not every OP character in Dragon Age has magical powers, though a lot of the strongest ones are mages. Fenris actually has a hatred of mages and doesn't possess any connection to magic. However, the painful lyrium markings that were carved into his skin do give Fenris some perks that other fighters don't have, and probably never will.

When first meeting this white-haired elf in Dragon Age 2, Fenris can be found turning bright blue from the lyrium carved into his skin before phasing his hand through a person to rip out their heart. While these markings are a curse for him, it can't be denied how powerful the lyrium has turned Fenris, with these abilities making him a perfect companion for players as well as being able to hold his own in battle.

7 Lace Harding

A Deep Connection To The Stone

  • Rogue companion
  • One of the only Dwarves that can use magic.
  • Appears in Dragon Age: Inquisition & Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Scout Harding received quite the transformation between Dragon Age: Inquisition and Dragon Age: The Veilguard. When she was once just a scout for the Inquisitor, Lace Harding was now a loyal companion to Rook during the events of this new game in the franchise, while still writing back to the folks at home.

Knowing who to have by your side in a fight can make all the difference.

However, this change of role wasn't the only thing, as after picking up a dagger, this surface dwarf became deeply connected to the stone, awakening Titan powers within her, making her the only Dwarf that could still use magic. While exploring the world of Veilguard, Harding's powers come in handy traversing the landscape, though the true purpose of her power is seen through her own personal storyline, as she comes face to face with the past of the Dwarves.

6 The Inquisitor

The Power To Close Rifts At Their Fingertips

  • A playable protagonist
  • They have the ability to seal rifts and stop Corypheus.
  • Appears in Dragon Age: Inquisition & Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Out of all the protagonists the player has been able to control across the Dragon Age franchise, The Inquisitor is by far one of the most OP of the bunch. Although The Hero of Ferelden is likely the most remembered due to them taking on the blight, nothing will equate to having the power to seal the rifts shut that have appeared across the world of Thedas in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

With the power of the anchor that the Inquisitor accidentally gained access to, they are the only solution to save the world from Corypheus. From having to close regular rifts around the world to opening them to quite literally enter the fade, this is a power that few should have access to. The Inquisitor's overpowered nature is unfortunately brought to an end by the end of the Trespasser DLC, but that doesn't mean this power should be forgotten.

5 Flemeth

The Witch Of The Wilds Is Always Present

  • An aid to the player.
  • The infamous Witch of the Wilds and a holder of the Fragment of Mythal.
  • Appears in Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2 & Dragon Age: Inquisition

Appearing in almost every game other than the latest one. Flemeth was highlighted as being an important character to the franchise, even all the way back in Dragon Age: Origins. Whenever the protagonist is in need of help, Flemeth has been the one to show guidance or give the player more power.

Those opting for the Spellblade specialization in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, will definitely want to get their hands on these weapons.

Throughout the games, the true identity of this Witch of the Wilds has been slowly revealed, from being a simple yet powerful witch to possessing a fragment of the goddess Mythal. Since she has the part of a goddess within her, it's no surprise that this woman isn't only immortal but also incredibly OP, with players witnessing her turn into a dragon on two separate occasions.

4 Morrigan

Mythal's Next Vessel, With Plenty Of Her Own Power

  • A mage companion and advisor.
  • Another vessel for the Fragment of Mythal.
  • Appears in Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Inquisition & Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Although Morrigan's mother, Flemeth, was once considered stronger than her, Morrigan has grown to be far more powerful than her mother. By the events of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Morrigan is no longer running away from her fate, as she reveals to the player that she has accepted the fragment of Mythal that her mother once possessed.

Even without this fragment of a goddess within her, Morrigan can be confidently deemed as OP, since she not only has the potential to drink from the Well of Sorrows in Inquisition, to gain more knowledge, but also the teachings of Flemeth, who sees her as a capable mage all by herself. Not to mention how she uses an ancient style of magic that allows her to shapeshift.

3 Ghilan'nain

A Corrupted Elven God That Can Control The Blight

  • One part of a duo of antagonistic elven gods.
  • She controls the horde of Darkspawn.
  • Appears in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

The stakes have constantly been raised in the Dragon Age franchise, with the sorts of antagonists the player has been forced to face becoming more overpowered with each game. Dragon Age: The Veilguard made sure this continued to be the case, with players fighting to save the world against the Blight that was being controlled by two corrupted Ancient Elven mages that many modern Elves worshiped as gods.

Dragon Age: Most Arrogant Characters, Ranked

The Dragon Age series is home to many self-important people, but these particular characters are arguably the most arrogant.

Ghilan'nain is one of these two blighted gods who has proven she deserves her placement as one of the most OP characters in the franchise. Once the Mother of Halla, Ghilan'nain has created all sorts of abominations as well as experimented with the Blight to create Darkspawn. Now that she has escaped her prison, she has full control of her very own Blight and therefore all the Darkspawn connected to it.

2 Elgar'nan

He Has The Power To Move The Sun And So Much More

  • The other half of a duo of antagonistic elven gods.
  • He can move the sun in the sky.
  • Appears in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Alongside Ghilan'nain was the All-Father himself, Elgar'nan. Although he required the aid of Ghilan'nain to control the armies of Darkspawn, as a fellow Blighted god that was once trapped in the Fade, Elgar'nan still has plenty of his original power, which allowed him to be the leader of the elven gods during the time of the Ancient Elves.

Now that this beast of a man is free, he once again hopes to enslave the world, but this time he's making the most of the Blight. With titles such as The Eldest of the Sun under his belt, it's no surprise that Elgar'nan is so OP that he can physically cause eclipses, something the players witness within Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but this is only one part of his power, as he can make almost anyone fall in love with him, something he uses to get plenty of new followers.

1 Solas

The Dread Wolf That Locked Away The Other Gods

  • One time mage companion turned antagonist.
  • He has the power to lock away gods and create the Veil.
  • Appears in Dragon Age: Inquisition & Dragon Age: The Veilguard

With so many OP characters to be met in Dragon Age, by far one of the most powerful out of them all has to be the Dread Wolf, better known by the simple name of Solas. When players first met this well-mannered bald elf, he was masquerading as an apostate, willing to aid the Inquisitor with whatever they needed to save the world in Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, through the events of the Trespasser DLC and Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Solas is revealed to be the ancient elf who once trapped the elven gods in the Fade.

To even be able to complete such a feat would require a lot of power, already proving that Solas is quite OP. Since Solas was only in a weakened state during the events of Inquisition by the time of Veilguard, he hoped to completely tear open the Veil to bring back the Ancient Elven cities, and he would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for Rook.
