Fans have waited a long time for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf to make its proper debut, following teaser after teaser. The end of Dragon Age: Inquisition's Trespasser DLC all but confirmed a sequel was on its way, and the company has released a handful of teaser trailers, behind-the-scenes looks, and development updates. Many want to see it ASAP, but patience will likely be rewarded.

Some BioWare fans were hopeful that the game might get a proper reveal this year. Insider Jeff Grubb even thinks that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is targeting a summer 2024 release, so it seems plausible a deeper reveal will come sometime this year. However, that doesn't mean it will happen this June. While Dreadwolf could still appear during the upcoming Summer Games Fest, fans probably shouldn't go in expecting to see it there.

Why Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Probably Won't Be at Summer Game Fest

The Summer Games fest starts at 12 PT/ 3 ET on June 8th. Over 40 developers will participate in The Summer Games Fest, and Electronic Arts will be among them. Unfortunately, the publisher hasn't said a peep about what it has planned. EA is a big company with a lot of projects underway. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor may be out the door, but EA has a handful more of Star Wars games in the works. There's also Skate, an Iron Man game, Wild Hearts, a new Need for Speed, and the new NCAA College Football game announced in 2021. It's hard to say how far along any of these games are, but it stands to reason that EA will want to show off at least one of them during the Summer Games fest. However, there's yet to be any indication that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will be it.

There's also the fact that Dragon: Age Dreadwolf was conspicuously absent from EA's 2024 financial report. This suggests the game won't release before April 2024, meaning it will miss the 2023 holiday season and the first quarter of 2024. If that's the case, it stands to reason that EA might be shooting for summer, as previously indicated by Grubb. In that case, EA might be better served to wait to reveal Dreadwolf until The 2023 Game Awards this December.

Why The Game Awards is the Best Bet for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf

Every threat beyond the Veil in Dragon Age: Dreadwolf

Of course, that doesn't mean that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf isn't going to show this year. Dreadwolf is a big release, so it seems like EA would do more to generate buzz if it had something of that scale on the docket for next year.

There are a couple of reasons why EA might want to show Dragon Age: Dreadwolf at The Game Awards. Waiting until later in the year, such as at the Game Awards in December, gives BioWare more time to whip up a proper demo. Not to mention, every trailer shown for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf so far, as well as BioWare's Mass Effect 4, have been tied to this event. If the title is going to appear anywhere this year, this is the safest bet. It would also be a great way to kickstart a proper marketing campaign heading into 2024, whereas revealing more about it any earlier may feel like yet another teaser that goes nowhere.

Again, it is entirely possible that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will appear during the 2023 Summer Games Fest. However, BioWare fans should manage their expectations going in. BioWare is certainly aware of all the pressure on the title, and any added title will only help.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is in development.
