Dragon Age 4 hasn’t had much news here lately, but that doesn’t mean they’ve been forgotten about. Every now and then, a fun, little Twitter conversation between Dragon Age 4 executive producer Christian Dailey and creative director Matthew Goldman results in fans getting new fan art. This has resulted in new Elven, Tevinter, and Grey Warden concept art in the past.
Now, this familiar exchange has taken place once more. Goldman asked Dailey if he were feeling “spooky” and made a joke about Dailey being the “Executive One,” something some believed to be a reference to the Executors in Dragon Age 4. It turns out that this wasn’t the case, but a new piece of concept has now been released nonetheless.
This “spooky” Dragon Age 4 concept art has two major components to it. On the far left, fans get to see genuine Undead, not Darkspawn. Undead featuring in Dragon Age 4 ought to come as no surprise, given they’ve appeared in the franchise numerous times before, and Necromancy is common in Tevinter Magic and the like. This doesn’t guarantee Undead are in the game or exactly look like this, of course, but it is an interesting depiction of them.
The second is to the far left, in which a castle of sorts sits with a red glow. It’s not immediately obvious what is causing this glow, but chances are, it’s Dragon Age 4’s Red Lyrium. This substance has played a major role in the past couple of games, and it’s not the first time it would have appeared in relation to Dragon Age 4 either. It’s a big mystery for now, but fans can almost certainly expect to see it play a big role in the next game.
The moon in this concept art looks interesting too, but beyond these details, there are just a couple of trees, a lake, and a “spooky” version of Dragon Age 4’s logo. Perhaps the tree on the right is even the so-called “Spooky Tree” that has been highlighted in Dragon Age 4 before, but that’s impossible to tell. Indeed, it’s not the most telling concept art released to date, but it is befitting to the Halloween season.
Dailey’s statement with this concept art is pretty straightforward too, saying all is well although it’s been a while since the last D ragon Age 4 concept art was released, and wishing everyone a happy Friday and Halloween. There are three emojis, but there’s clearly no hidden message: Dragon-skull-dragon alludes to undead in Dragon Age. As it stands, no one knows when fans will learn more about the game, but BioWare has a pretty good relationship with The Game Awards. So, fingers crossed Dragon Age 4 news comes at this year’s Game Awards ceremony.
Dragon Age 4 is in development.
