The big day is here, as players from across the world will finally be able to experience Hollow Knight: Silksong on their desired platforms. However, the majority of the players are facing issues purchasing and downloading the game because the stores on PC (Steam), Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch have stopped responding. This is due to servers being overloaded as an overwhelming number of fans are rushing in to finally get their hands on the game. If you also can't buy Silksong, here's a fix to get you started.
Hollow Knight Silksong: Release Time
To find out what time Silksong releases, refer to this guide to find a chart of time zones across the world, synced up to the Silksong launch time.
How to Download Hollow Knight: Silksong on PC, Xbox, PlayStation & Switch
Hollow Knight: Silksong has been in the works for almost a decade, due to all the love developers were pouring into the game, and stuffing it with exciting content for players to enjoy. Fans of the series have long awaited this extremely anticipated sequel to the point that witnessing its release was nothing more than a dream. Now all the waiting is over as Silksong can finally be played on all the supported platforms.
Hollow Knight: Silksong's download size is ~8GB. So, players who're unable to purchase it currently will be able to download the game quickly and start playing it.
PC
Players who can't buy Silksong on PC are experiencing difficulty purchasing and downloading the game on Steam or the Xbox App. As discussed before, this is the result of servers crashing due to being overloaded with players.
Players who're facing issues purchasing Silksong are also experiencing the "There seems to be an error initializing transaction on Steam" issue. This is also related to the Steam server crashing.
Here's the first workaround for this issue.
- Once you get access to the Steam page of Silksong, wishlist the game.
- Go into your wishlisted games and click on the "buy" button.
- Now proceed with the purchase, and you'll have Silksong added to your game library.
Another quick workaround to this problem might be purchasing the game from third-party vendors.
Third-party game sites like Humble Bundle are also offering the game at the same price as it's available on popular game clients like Steam. The site is working perfectly, even under all this load. Players can hop onto the site, purchase a key for the Steam client, and redeem it in their apps to start downloading Silksong right away.
Humble Bundle could run out of keys momentarily. If that happens, check the game's page on the store frequently until it's marked as available.
Xbox, PlayStation & Nintendo Switch
The majority of players on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch are unable to view Hollow Knight: Silksong in their stores due to servers being overloaded, preventing them from getting updated. If the game isn't showing up for you in the store, simply search for it, and there's a high chance you'll be able to view its store page and start downloading.
Other than that, we've tried checking for fixes, but there aren't any reliable methods or reputable third-party key sites that could help players on these consoles to download and enjoy the game at the moment.
The only solution right now is to either purchase the game on PC using the methods mentioned above or simply hang tight for a few hours until the servers are operational again.
