First and foremost, let’s take a look at the tiers that will be highlighted in this guide:

• S-tier: These heroes should be given top priority.
• A-tier: Pick these heroes if you can’t play an S-tier hero.
• B-tier: These heroes are decent picks if you are out of options.
• C-tier: Pick from these heroes if you have to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

Since each lane is unique in Dota 2, the following guide provides a separate tier list for heroes in each lane.

How to Play S-Tier Safelaners

• As Juggernaut, you can use Blade Fury and Swiftslash (Aghanim’s Shard) to take out multiple enemies, after which you can use the Blade Fury spell to escape.
• As Phantom Assassin, use Blur to become invisible and gain evasion. After this, you can hunt enemies by slowing them down using the Stifling Dagger spell, then moving in for the kill using the Phantom Strike spell.
• As Troll Warlord, get the Shadow Blade (upgrade it to Silver Edge for devastating damage), and then go on a hunting spree. After becoming invisible, get close to an enemy and use the Whirling Axes spell, ensuring your hero is set to melee. With each attack, Troll Warlord’s attack speed will increase while trapping the enemy, eventually putting them out of their misery. When facing multiple enemies and when your HP is low, use the Battle Trance spell to turn the odds in your favor.

How to Play S-Tier Midlaners

• As Outworld Destroyer, get the Arcane Boots and Meteor Hammer as soon as possible. Use Astral Imprisonment on enemies, and use the Meteor Hammer to drop a meteor on said enemies for considerable damage. If your enemies still have some HP remaining, take them out with the Sanity’s Eclipse spell.
• As Viper, you can dominate the mid-lane using the Nethertoxin spell to prevent your opposing hero from farming. Use the Poison Attack spell to keep your enemies at bay. When you get the Viper Strike spell, use it on your enemy and spam Poison Attack to put them out of their misery.
• Sniper can dominate the mid-lane by preventing the opposing hero from farming using the Shrapnel spell. To keep the opposing hero on their toes, use the Take Aim spell to do considerable damage from a distance. When you get the Assassinate spell, use it when the opposing hero has low HP.

How to Play S-Tier Offlaners

• Mars can only take out enemies with the Arena of Blood spell. Once you get Arena of Blood, use it on your enemy and lock them in. Then, use the Spear of Mars spell to push them toward the arena's boundary so that they can take damage from the undead warriors surrounding it. If you get the Aghanim’s Shard, your Spear of Mars will get an upgrade, allowing you to impale up to two enemies while dealing fire damage.
• Chaos Knight can be a deadly offlaner with the right items, like Manta Style and Radiance. When you are near an enemy, use the Phantasm spell and the Reality Rift spell to transport them to you and your illusions. If you have Manta Style, use it to summon more illusions. This combination can be deadly, especially if you have Radiance, as it will be impossible for any enemy to escape your grasp. If an enemy manages to escape, use the Chaos Bolt spell to stun them, so you can move in for the kill.
• One of the best things about Dawnbreaker is that you can do tremendous damage with a few items. Additionally, you can assist your allies anywhere on the map with the Solar Guardian spell. Go for a tank build and get the Aghanim’s Shard, which gives you spell immunity when you use the Starbreaker spell. Once you are ready, charge into team fights using Starbreaker to stun multiple enemies. Then, use the Celestial Hammer spell to do fire damage against enemies, especially those trying to flee.

How to Play S-Tier Supports

• Witch Doctor is one of the easiest supports to play. You can start getting kills with your Carry as early as level two. Use the Paralyzing Cask spell to stun enemies, and then use Maledict to curse them. If your Carry is aggressive enough, you can get easy kills at the start of matches. At level six, get the Death Ward spell. Then, use Paralyzing Cask, and then Maledict and Death Ward. As long as you are not open to attacks, you will obliterate any enemies in your way.
• Lich is an incredible support hero who works well with Phantom Assassin or Juggernaut. If you want easy kills at the start of every match, get the Frost Shield spell and use it on your Carry. When you get the Chain Frost spell after reaching level six, Lich can melt enemies during team fights while supporting allies in his team. Frost Shield provides armor and slows enemies. Sinister Gaze hypnotizes enemies to move towards you. Frost Blast causes damage and slows enemy movement and attack speed.
• Ogre Magi is the only support hero who can tank damage during team fights. Additionally, you can dish out damage by spamming spells like Ignite and Fireblast. You can also use the Bloodlust spell on your allies to increase their movement and attack speed. To take things up a notch, get items that increase spell damage, like Kaya and Veil of Discord.
