Donkey Kong Bananza recently revealed what kinds of hidden treasures players can uncover, including customizable outfits and the classic DK Rap track. Nintendo’s legendary ape is swinging onto the Switch 2 on July 17, and Donkey Kong Bananza is shaking things up with a large world where players can smash their way through nearly any obstacle as DK searches for the fabled Golden Bananas alongside a younger Pauline.

Earlier this week, Nintendo hosted a special Donkey Kong Bananza Direct that shed further light on the upcoming title’s plot and gameplay. In addition to confirming that the Odd Rock is indeed Pauline, this livestream highlighted DK’s new attacks, which can be used to damage enemies and navigate the many different landscapes of the underground. Players will have plenty of incentive to explore their surroundings in Donkey Kong Bananza, as the game features a wide assortment of collectibles that unlock special bonuses.

These bonuses were one of the subjects of this week’s Donkey Kong Bananza Nintendo Direct. As he navigates the underground, DK will find Banandium Chips, which are scattered around the game world and can be traded for Banandium Gems at the Chip Exchange. Meanwhile, players can collect gold nuggets to spend on items at the Stuff Shop, or uncover Fossils to trade for unlockable outfits at the Style Shop.

Donkey Kong Bananza Has Unlockable Costumes, Colors, and Music

These outfits can be equipped in the Closet, where players can create their own custom looks for DK and Pauline by combining certain pants, hats, and even fur colors. Each article of clothing comes with its own special benefit to help DK in Donkey Kong Bananza, so players are encouraged to mix, match, and experiment to see what perks a particular level or scenario.

Players can also uncover maps that can lead them to more Banandium Gems or Fossils while smashing through Donkey Kong Bananza’s destructible environment. Their location will be marked on the player’s map to make finding them easier, and there is a database for the player to keep track of which Gems or Fossils they have already collected.

Lastly, players can unlock music tracks to listen to while relaxing in a Getaway, which DK can build at certain areas to take a break from his adventure. Sometimes players will find new discs after defeating enemies to get new tracks, including the iconic DK Rap from Donkey Kong 64. There will be plenty of secrets to uncover when Donkey Kong Bananza launches for the Switch 2 on July 17.
