Donkey Kong Bananza Birthday Cake Draws Attention

Now, a fan called real_billmo has shared the Donkey Kong Bananza cake they received from their spouse and kids. The cake utilizes the new Donkey Kong and Pauline Amiibo on the top of the cake, which is surrounded by piles of banana candies. Little palm trees, gummy snakes, and what look like frosting or fondant leaves do a great job of remaking the classic jungle scenes from the franchise. The fan community seems to be quite fond of the creation, with the post sitting at over 6,000 upvotes at the time of publication.

Real_billmo went into some more detail regarding the cake in the comments. They note that their spouse has a food intolerance to actual bananas, so despite the banana-centric design, it doesn't contain any actual banana or banana flavoring. Instead, the cake is entirely chocolate, which is likely also why it's surrounded by a wall of Kit Kat chocolate bars. Real_billmo said it tasted great, and that since chocolate is their favorite, it's no big deal that it doesn't have any real banana in it. In all, the cake took about 4 hours to make, and the OP's wife carefully wrapped the base of the Amiibo in saran wrap to avoid damaging it, assuaging fans' concerns.

Although there are still several months remaining in 2025 and new games on their way, real_billmo is one of many gamers who have labeled Donkey Kong Bananza as their game of the year thus far. As the limited availability of the Switch 2 improves, more players will get a chance to try it out, which may boost its popularity even further.
