Today is a big day for The Division 2, as today sees the release of The Division 2’s Title Update 11, which kicks off Season 3 for the online third-person shooter while introducing plenty of new content like the PvE mode known as The Summit. It’s a good time to jump into the game, and as it happens, Ubisoft will be making the game free-to-play this weekend, giving would-be players the chance to do just that.

From this Thursday, September 24, to Sunday, September 27, The Division 2 will be available for people to download and play at zero cost. This will be the full game, according to Ubisoft, meaning players will be free to explore its pandemic-stricken version of Washington D.C., grind through its missions, and upgrade their characters as much as they can in four days.

This is the latest example of Ubisoft making The Division 2 free-to-play for a weekend, having hosted previous events back in June of last year and February of this year. Just like with those weekends, players will be able to carry their progress over into the full game should they choose to buy it afterwards. Better yet, those who only played the game during the February weekend will still have their progress when they jump back in this weekend.

On top of the upcoming free-to-play weekend, Ubisoft is putting the game on sale for a limited time, offering The Division 2 and its Warlords of New York expansion for up to 85% off the usual price. This should give a fair number of newcomers the incentive they need to put some money down to keep playing.

However The Division 2 fares compared to the most popular live-service shooters, it’s clear that Ubisoft will continue to support the game for the foreseeable future, having recently stressed that The Division 2 will be playable on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. It remains to be seen what its plans for the game are now that Title Update 11 is finally out, but it’s safe to assume that players will have new gear, modes, missions, and more to look forward to over the course of future seasons.

The Division 2 is available for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and will be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X via backwards compatibility.
