Divinity: Original Sin 2 - The Best Class Choices For Every Main Character Companion

Finding the right companion in Divinity: Original Sin 2 can really make things easier on you. Here's how you can get the most out of them.

How to Respec in Divinity: Original Sin 2

There are two methods to respec your character in DOS 2, i.e., the Magic Mirror found on Malady's ship, Lady Vengeance, and the Magic Mirror in Fort Joy. These mirrors let the player respec their character when they interact with it. Your companions can also respec using the same method. There are no restrictions on using it, nor is there any cost involved.

You cannot change the race or gender of your character during a gameplay session.

The mirror on Lady Vengeance is located in the lower hold of the ship. It can only be accessed after the player has completed the Lady o' War quest. This method only works after the player has escaped Fort Joy, ending Act II of the game.

If you want to respec earlier, players can use the Fort Joy Magic Mirror, found in a corner of the arena underneath Fort Joy's kitchen. To spawn this mirror, players need to go through a few hoops.

  • To do so, simply open the in-game menu and click on Gift Bag Features.
  • From here, players can activate different Larian Studios mods that impact the gameplay in various ways.
  • Click on Fort Joy Magic Mirror, and accept the conditions that the game presents, i.e., not being able to disable the feature later and disabling achievements.
  • Once done, the game will create a new save file, and reload with the magic mirror spawned in the arena.

Respeccing a character lets the player change the attributes, abilities, and even talents of the controlled character. This allows for a seamless transition between different builds. The only restriction placed on the player is the lack of suitable equipment and skill books.

As there are no costs involved, there's no reason not to try out different builds to see which one suits the player the best, as long as you have the appropriate skill books for the new build. The more things you try, the better understanding you'll have of the game's mechanics, letting you enjoy the journey even more.
