Disney California Adventure has some good news for Marvel fans visiting the park starting May 2, 2025, as a new character will be joining the Avengers Campus. Disney has been feeding park fans with lots of surprises lately.
Every time a Marvel movie comes out, fans are eager to learn if there will be any characters at the Disney parks, a way to promote both the movie and the parks. And, of course, there will be a few surprises for those who are waiting for the Thunderbolts* movie, including the arrival of a character at the California Adventure.

On the same day the movie opens, Red Guardian will arrive at the Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure, and he will be there for a limited time. While Disney recently confirmed that visitors can meet and greet him at the park starting May 2, they haven't revealed when this collab will be over — so fans may want to hurry if they don't want to miss him.
More Surprises to Come Soon
While some may have been expecting Bucky to be at the park, Red Guardian, as the counterpart to Captain America, is a great choice and there's no doubt that he can bring a lot of fun to the park's visitors. Bucky is better known because he has already appeared in many movies, while the Red Guardian only appeared in Black Widow, but he appears to have a lot of charisma. Thunderbolts* reception among critics has been generally positive, with many citing the Red Guardian as a highlight of the film.
Disney Parks fans can expect a lot of good news this year, as Disneyland celebrates its 70th anniversary starting in May. Disneyland already announced some brand-new experiences that will kick off soon, and, of course, new merch, collectibles and food options will be rolling out along with special discounts.
As this is a special year, there is probably even more to come, not only for park visitors, but also for those staying at the Disneyland Resort. Fans who visit both parks between now and May 11 will be able to enjoy Season of the Season of Force and Star Wars Nite during select nights at Disneyland including Star Wars Day on May 4th.
