Disney Speedstorm has launched with three different paid editions for players, all giving additional benefits. Although it will launch in Free-to-play form around the start of 2024, players can get exclusive access to Disney Speedstorm by paying for a Founder's Pack. These packs cost money but grant in-game benefits and early access before the game becomes free.
Currently, there are 3 Founders Packs: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate. The Standard pack includes the least content but goes for $30, while the Deluxe pack consists of a bit more content and goes for $50, and finally, the Ultimate pack has the most content but goes for a steep $70. Almost all of the content within these packs could eventually be earned in-game naturally.
Standard Founder's Pack
The rewards for buying the standard $30 bundle are as follows:
- Early Access to Disney Speedstorm before the free-to-play release in late 2023 or early 2024.
- Racers unlocked: Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, both characters crucial for progression in the single-player mode.
- Single Additional Racer unlock of the player's choice from the list of Baloo, Belle, Beast, Elizabeth Swann, Shang, or Mowgli.
- 4,000 Tokens which are used to purchase in-game items in the shop.
- 2 Golden Pass Credits that can be used to unlock the game's battle pass, known as the Golden Pass, for free or skip tiers within the pass.
- Exclusive Founding Member Racing Suit for Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and the chosen Racer that is purely cosmetic but will be unobtainable without purchasing one of these packs.
- Exclusive Founding Member Kart livery for Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and the chosen Racer are free decals and customization for the karts, again exclusive to those who purchased a Founder's Pack.
- Exclusive Founder's Motto and Avatar are exclusive to those who purchased a founder's pack and are the tagline and image shown at the end of a race.
Overall, the things of the highest value are the ability to choose from a small selection of extra racers, as characters are hard to come by in Disney Speedstorm. The exclusive items are entirely vanity, and the rest are all things that can, eventually, be earned throughout playing the game with no real money required.
Deluxe Founder's Pack
On top of granting the buyer all the previous rewards for the Standard Founder's pack, the $50 Deluxe Founder's Pack includes:
- Racer unlocked: Mulan, in addition to Mickey, Donald, and the choice of Racer.
- 3,000 Extra Tokens for a total of 7,000.
- Exclusive Founding Member Racing Suit for Mulan as well as the ones for Mickey, Donald, and the choice of Racer.
- Exclusive Founding Member Kart livery for Mulan and the decals for Mickey, Donald, and the chosen Racer.
Overall, while this gives a little extra over the Standard, this pack offers very little extra for another $20. This one is only worth getting for Mulan fans who don't mind spending a bit of extra money, as the increase in Tokens is the only notable addition besides her, and that increase doesn't amount to much in-game yet.
Ultimate Founder's Pack
On top of every reward from the previous two packs, the $70 Ultimate Founder's Pack has quite a few extra goodies to entice players to this edition, such as:
- Racers unlocked: Captain Jack Sparrow and Hercules, as well as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Mulan.
- 5,000 Extra Tokens for a total of 12,000
- 1 Extra Golden Pass Credit for a total of 3
- Exclusive Founding Member Racing Suit for Captain Jack Sparrow and Hercules, as well as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Mulan, and the chosen Racer
- Exclusive Founding Member Kart livery for Captain Jack Sparrow and Hercules as well as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Mulan, and the chosen Racer
- Kart wheels and wings for Donald Duck's Kart are only available to those who buy the Ultimate Founder's Pack but are purely vanity.
Overall, much better value than the Deluxe pack, but whether it is worth spending the price of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is up to the individual. However, this pack does have its benefits, namely the exclusive vanity and extra Golden Pass credit, and any Disney Speedstorm player who wants to be playing the game for a long time should consider this pack.
Disney Speedstorm is out now in Early Access on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
