Disney Dreamlight Valley’s A Rift in Time expansion introduces an all-new treasure-hunting feature that is a core mechanic of the player’s adventures on Eternity Isle. The player receives a powerful new Royal Tool, the Royal Hourglass, within the first few quests they experience on the Isle.
Players will use this tool continuously throughout their adventure on Eternity Isle, which will require the player to collect hidden treasures to craft necessary upgrades and also accumulate Mist, a new currency akin to Dreamlight, to unlock new areas.

How to Start the Quest “Village Project: Timeless Treasures”
Early in the player’s A Rift in Time adventure, they will obtain the Royal Hourglass, a new Royal Tool with the powerful ability to uncover hidden treasures. The player receives this new tool at the culmination of quest, “The Flying Metal Nuisance.” Once this quest is complete, players can seek out the wizard Merlin who offers the first of a short series of quests, “Village Project: Timeless Treasures.”
How to Complete the Quest “Village Project: Timeless Treasures”
Merlin’s quest “Village Project: Timeless Treasures” introduces players to A Rift in Time’s new Timebending mechanic, a new form of treasure hunting which utilizes the Royal Hourglass to uncover ancient artifacts and a helpful new currency called Mist, Eternity Isle’s version of the Dreamlight currency. Upon speaking with Merlin, he gives the player a Timebending Table and instructs the player to place it anywhere within Eternity Isle.
Place the Timebending Table
To place the Timebending Table, simply open the Inventory menu and click on the Furniture tab. The Timebending Table can be found under the topmost category, featuring Merlin’s portrait. Place the Timebending Table anywhere outdoors on Eternity Isle; it can be moved later, so it doesn’t matter where it is placed.

Timebending is a new companion role in Disney Dreamlight Valley, which means that there is also a training manual for it.
Craft Furniture at the Timebending Table
The Timebending Table features all new crafting recipes which are exclusively available at that crafting station. Players will use materials recovered through Timebending to craft special furniture, upgrades to their Royal Tools, and upgrade their Royal Hourglass. Merlin requires the player to craft a single piece of furniture found in the “Furniture” category at the Timebending Table.
All Furniture crafted at the Timebending Table require materials obtained on Eternity Isle, specifically those found via Timebending with the Royal Hourglass. If the player has already done a bit of treasure-hunting, they may already have some of these materials, otherwise they will need to use the Royal Hourglass to recover hidden items in any of the available areas on Eternity Isle or in the Valley.

Disney Dreamlight Valley finally has multiplayer, allowing players to visit their friends or show off their village.
While the ease of crafting a specific recipe will depend on the player’s luck in finding specific parts, all the base Timebending Parts are of relatively equal rarity. Players will likely find it easiest to craft the "White Ancient Lamppost," which requires 2 Ancient Pipe and 1 Quartz. Quartz can be obtained by mining mineral nodes in Ancient's Landing. Players will need to collect Quartz to reopen Scrooge's Store on the island, so it's a good idea to start mining for it early on.
Once the player has crafted a piece of furniture, return to Merlin and speak with him, showing him the furniture that they have crafted. The player does not need to place the furniture as they did the Timebending Table; simply speaking with Merlin will count and complete the quest “Village Project: Timeless Treasures” in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time.
