As soon as Disney Dreamlight Valley players find the Royal Shovel, they can dig around the Valley and get soil. It's one of the easiest materials in the game to get, but finding it in large quantities can be both difficult and time-consuming. Thankfully, there are some tips that can help players farm soil quickly. In fact, there's even a way to get a ton of soil and earn a lot of Star Coins in the process.
Soil is used for a lot of different crafting recipes, including roads, paths, Trellises, and more. But even if players aren't planning on making any of those Disney Dreamlight Valley recipes, it never hurts to stock up on materials in this game. Players can store their excess soil in a chest, and it will be available for crafting whenever it is needed. With that in mind, here are some ways to farm Soil quickly.
Get Soil By Digging
The most straightforward and obvious way to get Soil is by digging it up. There are a few things to keep in mind if players want to maximize the amount of soil they get. For starters, players should have a companion with them who is specialized in the Digging role, preferably a companion with level 10 Friendship. Every time the player finds Soil, their companion will have a chance to find additional Soil.
Another thing to consider is which biome to dig in. Although Soil can be found in any Biome, the Glade of Trust, Sunlit Plateau, and the Forgotten Lands can also drop Clay from digging. Likewise, digging in the Frosted Heights will sometimes reward Snowballs, and digging in Dazzle Beach rewards Sand. For this reason, if Soil is the only thing players need, it's best to dig for it in the Plaza, Peaceful Meadows, or Forest of Valor.
Use Rich Soil to Get Soil
One final way players can get lots of Soil easily is by crafting it. After the Dreamlight Valley update that added Scar, players now have a chance of getting Rich Soil whenever they harvest a crop. This can be used to craft the Miraculous Growth Elixir items, but it can also be crafted into five Soil.
Players may find that they already have a lot of Rich Soil saved up, which they can use if they need Soil in a pinch. To farm Rich Soil and craft it into regular Soil, players should plant fields of wheat and then harvest them. Alternatively, planting other crops can provide a lot of Star Coins and players will get Rich Soil as a byproduct of harvesting.
Disney Dreamlight Valley is in early access now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
