In the magical world of Disney Dreamlight Valle y, players can participate in limited-run Star Path events, similar to “Battle Pass” events in games like Fortnite and Genshin Impact. During these events, players can complete special Dreamlight Duties to secure event-specific tokens, usable for prizes exclusive to that Star Path.

Typically, Star Path duties are phrased similarly to the game’s default Dreamlight Duties, where the objectives are clearly outlined; for example, “Catch 10 fish.” However, in a fresh turn of events, the Haunted Holiday Star Path mixes things up by replacing the conventional, direct task guidelines with more enigmatic clues. While this new way of challenging players adds a layer of intrigue, it also complicates matters for those not intimately acquainted with Disney movies. One such challenge involves a fish popular in a certain kingdom.

One challenging Dreamlight Duty from the Haunted Holiday Star Path instructs the player to “Catch a fish popular in Arendelle.” The “fish popular in Arendelle” is Herring.

The player can catch Herring by fishing in white pools found in the waters of the Dazzle Beach and Glade of Trust biomes. There are likely many fish popular in Arendelle, the fictional kingdom where much of Frozen takes place, but this task requires players to hone in on the right fish catchable in Disney Dreamlight Valley that meets the criteria.

The only hint toward determining the correct fish for this task is the existence of the in-game recipe “Arendellian Picked Herring.” This recipe was a requirement in completing the quest “What Homes Feels Like” for Frozen’s Elsa, offering players the opportunity to make that connection even if they are not familiar with the movie. Additionally, this recipe is the only one which specifically states the name of the region in which it is popular, the one named in the Star Path’s task.

Oaken in Disney's Frozen

Players who have seen Frozen may recall a similar delicacy making an appearance when the delightful shopkeeper Oaken offers Kristoff a jar of his delicious Lutefisk, a recipe made with large whitefish instead of herring. However, players not as familiar with the movie Frozen may have a hard time making this connection. There are a variety of cooking dishes that have a clear connection to specific Disney movies, including Aurora’s Cake and the Wonderland Cookies, but Arendelle can be a harder reference for some to place.

Many players are pleased with this change to the Star Path tasks, as it offers a more immersive gameplay experience and rewards players for their familiarity with the various Disney titles that inspire the world of Dreamlight Valley. However, not everyone is on board with this change, and some players have voiced concerns, as some of the duties are harder to determine than others.

While any truly puzzling duties can, of course, be decoded after a quick internet search, it may be worth it for Gameloft to ensure that all information required to identify these tasks is made readily available via in-game content. In the meantime, players who are struggling with certain clues should look to the task’s icon as a hint to its objective.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
