Goofy has also set up stalls in each new biome, offering exclusive seeds for planting and harvesting.
While the setting has changed, the core gameplay of Disney Dreamlight Valley remains consistent. Players continue to rely on Royal Tools for gathering an assortment of new minerals, cooking ingredients, and other useful items on the Isle. These tools are also essential for clearing certain objects in the biomes, which, once removed, yield valuable crafting materials and may even open up previously inaccessible areas.

One new type of obstacle in A Rift in Time’s Eternity Isle are Small and Large Rubble Piles encountered in the Ancient’s Landing biome. These piles blend well with the surrounding décor, making them easy to overlook, but removing them offers benefits. Here’s how to tackle the Rubble Piles in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time.
How to Remove Small Rubble Piles
Small Rubble Piles are clusters of rocks entwined with vines and small yellow flowers and featuring rune-like spirals that blend with nearby ancient structures. Initially, they might seem like part of the décor, but they are actually obstacles meant to be removed using the Royal Shovel.
To tackle Small Rubble Piles, players need to craft the Small Rubble Shovel Potion at a Timebending Table. Crafting this potion is an objective of the quest, “Village Project: Timeless Trash.” The required materials are:
- 500 Mist
- 10 Pearls
Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to Earn Mist Fast
Mist is a crucial currency used to unlock new biomes in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time. Here’s how players can quickly acquire it.
Mist is earned by completing Mist Duties, clearing Splinters of Fate, and treasure hunting with the Royal Hourglass. Pearls can be obtained by digging anywhere in Ancient’s Landing using the Royal Shovel.
Once the player has obtained the necessary materials and crafted the Small Rubble Shovel Potion, the Royal Shovel is immediately upgraded to now be able to remove the Small Rubble piles in Ancient’s Landing. Doing so yields both Soil and Plastic Scrap.
How to Remove Large Rubble Piles
Large Rubble Piles are larger versions of these viney rocks and are also found exclusively in Ancient’s Landing. Removing these obstacles will require a little more effort, as the player must first upgrade the Royal Hourglass to Level 1 by spending Mist at the Timebending Table. Doing so unlocks new crafting recipes and allows the player to discover Ancient Core (Level 1) while Timebending.
Ancient Cores are used in numerous recipes for substantially beneficial upgrades, specifically in the creation of ancient machines that players can craft and use to automate many day-to-day tasks in Dreamlight Valley. They are also required to craft the Large Rubble Shovel Potion required to upgrade the Royal Shovel so it can remove Large Rubble Piles.
How to Craft Large Rubble Shovel Potion
Crafting the Large Rubble Shovel Potion is an objective of Merlin's follow-up quest, "Village Project: Timeless Tools." Once the player has upgraded the Royal Hourglass to Level 1, they can obtain Ancient Core (Level 1) via Timebending, which they'll need to craft ths upgrade. To craft the Large Rubble Shovel Potion, players will need to gather these items:
- 3000 Mist
- One Ancient Core (Level 1)
- 40 Pearl
Once the player has collected the necessary items, they should head to the Timebending Table and craft the Large Rubble Shovel Potion from the “Special” category. Once crafted, the Royal Shovel will automatically upgrade and will now be capable of removing Large Rubble Piles in Ancient’s Landing, also yielding Soil and Plastic Scrap used in other crafting recipes.
