There are many different kinds of gems in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Prior to A Rift in Time, all gems were pretty standard in terms of look and appearance. But that changed once fictional gems like Evergems were added to the game.

In addition to some things that are very clearly not gems like Magma, there are more unique-looking gems that have been added in The Storybook Vale like Star Sapphires. Despite looking like a starfish, Star Sapphires are indeed gems, and if you want to collect some, here is where they can be found.

How to Get Star Sapphires in Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale

Star Sapphires can be mined from the rocks along the walls of the Wild Woods, Teapot Falls, the Fallen Fortress, and the Beanstalk Marshes. You also have a chance of getting other gems like Pure Ice whenver you are mining in these biomes. If you see a rock with crystals sticking out of it, you are guaranteed to get a gem. If you are looking to get more Star Sapphires, keep an eye out for crystals sticking out of the rocks that are dark blue.

While you are mining for Star Sapphires, it is not a bad idea to take a character along who has the mining role. That way, when a Star Sapphire does spawn, you will be able to get a lot more, especially if your companions role is at Level 10. There is also a shiny version of Star Sapphire as well, so make sure to farm some of those in case you ever need them for anything.

What Are Star Sapphires Used For?

Primarily, Star Sapphires are used for crafting. There are two items that require Star Sapphires. The first is the Basic Olympic Snippet Repellent while the second is the Basic Faerie Snippet Repellent. The materials needed to craft these two items are as follows.

Basic Olympic Snippet Repellent

  • One Star Sapphire
  • One Lamprey
  • Five Gold Ingots
  • 10 Marble
  • 500 Storybook Magic

Basic Faerie Snippet Repellent

  • One Star Sapphire
  • One Lamprey
  • Five Petrified Wood
  • 10 Volcanic Rock
  • 500 Storybook Magic

In addition to crafting, you need one Star Sapphire for one of Flynn's friendship quests, The Company of the Wolf. Beyond crafting and quests, it is good to hold onto some Star Sapphires for future quests or if they happen to be a daily favorite items for one of the many Disney characters in the game.
