Shortly after welcoming Merida to Disney Dreamlight Valley's Storybook Vale, you can unlock her level two Friendship Quest called 'Clan Dunbroch's Rules of the Hunt.' It's a quest that delves into Merida's heritage, where she teaches you all about her Clan's hunting rules. This includes setting a trap to catch Snippets more easily around The Bind. In addition to catching Snippets, Merida's Clan Dunbroch's Rules of the Hunt also has a lot of steps, including several Storybook Vale forageables to find and a Lorekeeper puzzle to complete.
Disney Dreamlight Valley: Mythic Restoration Walkthrough (Hades' First Friendship Quest)
Right after you unlock Hades in Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale, you will also gain access to his first friendship quest.
As part of the quest, you also get a neat reward in the shape of a Storybook Frame, which you can hang in your house to display pictures from pages restored in the Lorekeeper book.
How To Start Clan Dunbroch's Rules Of The Hunt
You can begin Merida's Level 2 Friendship quest called 'Clan Dunbroch's Rules of the Hunt' after you unlock Merida in Disney Dreamlight Valley, complete her first Friendship quest called 'A New Chapter,' and raise her friendship to level two by giving her gifts or her daily favorites. Once you increase Merida's friendship, speak with her and select 'Clan Dunbroch's Rules of the Hunt' to begin the quest.
Remove The Mossy Logs From The Bind
After following Merida down the steps and speaking with her, you learn about Clan Dunbroch's first rule of the hunt: control the terrain. Merida wants you to remove the Mossy Logs around The Bind using the Shovel Potion she gives you, which removes stubborn, aqua-green colored moss from logs. Use the Shovel Potion in your inventory and your shovel to dig up the six Mossy Logs, which you can find close to Storybook Vale's Scrooge McDuck's store and Chez Remy, as pictured above.
Gather Materials To Make A Snippet Trap
Once you've dug up all six Mossy Logs, speak with Merida again. She gives you a set of instructions from the Lorekeeper to make a Slow Trap to help catch the Snippets around The Bind, plus some extra Moss. Use the Bind Slow Trap Recipe in your inventory to learn it, which is a trap that slows Snippets down. It's now time to gather all the materials to make a Snippet Trap, as listed below:
- One Opal
- One Sorcerer Hat Hermit Crab
- Five Pine Cones
- 10 Moss
- 500 Storybook Magic
How To Get Opal
To get Opal in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you need to mine it from rocks around The Bind as a blue-colored stone that shines with the colors of the rainbow. It's also possible to mine Shiny Opal, but you will need the standard Opal to make the Slow Trap. It can take a bit of time for Opal to spawn. However, keep mining rocks around The Bind, and it shouldn't take too long to appear.
Opal also sells for 300 Gold Star Coins, whereas Shiny Opal is a rare gem that is sellable for 1,200 Gold Star Coins.
How To Get Sorcerer Hat Hermit Crab
You can find a Sorcerer Hat Hermit Crab by fishing in orange circles in the water surrounding The Bind.
Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to Get Magma
Magma is one of many new items added in Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale, and here is how you can obtain it.
How To Get Pine Cones
You can find Pine Cones lying on the ground in The Bind next to large trees. You can also sell Pine Cones for 80 Gold Star Coins if you've picked up lots.
How To Get Moss
With the extra Moss from Merida and from digging up the logs, you should already have 10 Moss to make the Slow Trap. However, if, for any reason, you need more Moss or need more in the future, you can find Moss on the floor of the Wild Woods once you've unlocked the area.
How To Get Storybook Magic
You can get Storybook Magic in Disney Dreamlight Valley by completing Storybook Duties in the Dreamlight menu, such as by removing Inkies, feeding owls, and planting vegetables brought from the Storybook Vale, as just a few examples.
Craft & Place The Basic Fall Leaves Slow Trap
Once you've gathered all the above materials, craft the Basic Fall Leaves Slow Trap on the crafting table near your house and place it anywhere in The Bind from your Furniture menu, such as under the bridge. The trap slows Snippets down and gives them a blue glow.
Catch Snippets Slowed By The Trap
Once you've placed the Trap, return to Merida. She then tasks you with catching 10 Snippets around The Bind using your Royal Net. It should be much easier to get them as they move a bit slower. You can tell which are the ones slowed by the Trap by their blue glow. Once you've finished, talk to Merida to learn about the fourth rule of hunting.
Disney Dreamlight Valley: How To Unlock The Royal Net
Dreamers must complete a small quest to unlock the Royal Net tool in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Rearrange Any Tale In The Lorekeeper's Pages
The next step is to return the Snippets you've caught to the Lorekeeper and re-arrange a tale of your choice. Head to the Lorekeeper in The Library of Lore and interact with the Lorekeeper book, choosing the 'I want to reorder stories!' Dialogue option. Each tale requires a different number and variety of snippets, so you can choose a tale according to the number and type of snippets you've caught, such as Aladdin costing 25 blue Snippets.
The Aladdin tale puzzle is similar to the one unlocking Merida quest, but there are no lines to guide you. A good place to start is by checking for flat lines and corners of the borders, followed by adding more pieces as you go, with the finished picture above.
Place The Storybook Frame Anywhere In Your House
Speak to Merida again, who gives you a Storybook Frame as a gift. The final step is to place the Storybook Frame anywhere in your house using the Furniture menu. Once finished, chat with Merida again to complete the 'Clan Dunbroch's Rules of the Hunt.'
