Disney Dreamlight Valley features a wide variety of Dreamlight Duties and Mist Duties that players can complete each day to earn Dreamlight and Mist, respectively. These resources are used in crafting recipes and also to unlock new biomes within the Valley and Eternity Isle. In addition to an ever-rotating assortment of daily duties players can complete, Dreamlight Valley features completionist tasks that measure their cumulative efforts throughout their time in the Valley.

Dreamlight Valley’s Star Path events feature a specific assortment of duties which players must complete to earn a special event currency used to unlock exclusive rewards. Many tasks are straightforward, involving activities like chatting with a certain character or crafting a specific item in the Valley. However, some tasks are more challenging to decipher.
The Lovely Monsters Star Path event features one such task, asking players to “Dig for something blue.” Here’s what you need to do to complete this duty in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
How to Dig for Something Blue in Disney Dreamlight Valley
The "Dig for something blue" duty in the Lovely Monsters Star Path is a challenging task players face while trying to complete this Star Path and unlock Monsters, Inc.-themed items. The task's description is ambiguous and misleading, and its objective can be a potentially time-consuming chore to finish.

Scare up a good time with Monsters, Inc.'s top two Jokesters, Sulley and Mike Wasowski, in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
The duty’s use of the word “dig” is initially confusing, as it makes it sound like the task will require use of the Royal Shovel. However, that isn’t the case. To “Dig for something blue,” players are required to use the Royal Pickaxe to mine gemstones from Rock Spots found throughout the Valley and Eternity Isle.
The “something blue” players need to “dig” refers to any blue gemstone in Disney Dreamlight Valley, of which the player needs to collect 20 total of any kind. This assortment can include any of the following gems:
- Aquamarine (or Shiny Aquamarine) – Aquamarine can be found when mining from Rock Spots found in the Dazzle Beach or Forest of Valor biomes.
- Sapphire (or Shiny Sapphire) – Sapphire can be found when mining from Rock Spots found in Vitalys Mine.
- Vitalys Crystal – Vitalys Crystal can be found when mining from Rock Spots found in Vitalys Mine.
- Blue Zircon – Blue Zircon can be found when mining from Rock Spots found in The Lagoon area of the Wild Tangle biome (A Rift in Time expansion only).
The easiest way to complete the Star Path Dreamlight Duty “Dig for something blue” is to mine exclusively within the Vitalys Mine, located in the Sunlit Plateau biome. Here you can collect both Sapphire and Vitalys Crystals from the many Rock Spots located throughout the mine. While you should bring along a Mining companion for the increased drops, any extra gemstones they discover will not count toward completing the Dreamlight duty.
Vitalys Crystal are handy to stock up on, as they’re used in crafting various enchantment potions that can increase the effectiveness of your Royal Tools.
Simply travel through the sprawling Vitalys Mine, mining all the glowing blue Rock Spots until you’ve obtained all 20 blue gemstones needed to complete the “Dig for something blue” task in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Lovely Monsters Star Path. The Rock Spots within Vitalys Mine will respawn after 5 minutes, and lucky players should be able to complete this task relatively quickly, as the Vitalys Crystals have a higher drop rate than other items from these Rock Spots.
