Gardening, referred to as farming in many life simulation games, is a central aspect of gameplay in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This continues with the A Rift in Time expansion, which introduces an array of new vegetables, fruits, and spices for players to cultivate and gather. Eternity Isle, the expansion's impressive new region, features three biomes rich with these horticultural resources.
In Disney Dreamlight Valley, players can utilize ingredients from the biomes to create over 120 new dishes, adding to the existing cookbook that now boasts more than 300 recipes. These dishes serve various purposes: they can replenish energy, be gifted or served to characters in Remy’s Restaurant, or sold at Goofy’s Stall for Star Coins.
Disney Dreamlight Valley: All Cooking Recipes
With the help of this guide, players can learn the recipes to cook every meal in Disney Dreamlight Valley and the A Rift in Time expansion.
Scrooge McDuck is eager for the player to get started with growing vegetables on Eternity Isle, and wants the player to flex their Gardening skills in this new region. Here’s how players can complete the quest “A Garden in the Desert” in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time.
How to Start the Quest “A Garden in the Desert”
The quest “A Garden in the Desert” unlocks after completing a specific assortment of quests and objectives on Eternity Isle. Before players can start this quest, they must first do the following:
- Complete Scrooge McDuck’s first Eternity Isle quest, “New Ventures (And Adventures),” reopening Scrooge’s Store on Eternity Isle.
- Complete the story quest, “The Sands in the Hourglass,” and repair the broken bridge, granting access to the Glittering Dunes and Wild Tangle biomes.
- Visit and reopen Goofy’s Stalls in the three biomes. Reopening the stall in Ancient’s Landing requires players to complete the quest “Give Me A Sign.” The others are reopened by spending Star Coins.
While the additional upgrades to Goofy's Stalls aren’t required at first, players will want to purchase them eventually anyway to unlock new seeds.
Once the player has completed all three of these tasks, they can speak to Scrooge McDuck to accept his newly available quest, “A Garden in the Desert.”

How to Complete the Quest “A Garden in the Desert”
Having reopened his store on Eternity Isle, Scrooge McDuck is now focused on implementing a plan to stimulate the island's economy. He enlists the player’s help once again, requesting they purchase specific seeds from Goofy’s newly reopened stalls and plant them in the Glittering Dunes biome.
Purchase & Plant Seeds for Scrooge
Scrooge requests the player to buy these seeds from Goofy's Stalls and plant them anywhere within the Glittering Dunes:
|
Seeds |
Where to Purchase |
Cost |
|---|---|---|
|
6 Cabbage Seeds |
Goofy's Stall in Wild Tangle |
20 Star Coins each |
|
6 Celery Seeds |
Goofy's Stall in Ancient's Landing |
20 Star Coins each |
|
6 Broccoli Seeds |
Goofy's Stall in Glittering Dunes |
70 Star Coins each |
The three seeds are available for purchase at Goofy’s Stalls using Star Coins. Players can obtain them immediately after reopening the stall, without needing any upgrades.
Water & Harvest the Vegetables
To complete the quest "A Garden in the Desert," players must purchase, plant, water, and harvest fully-grown crops. The growth time varies for each seed type, potentially taking up to an hour for all three crops to be ready for harvest.
Players seeking to speed up the quest completion might consider using a Miraculous Growth Elixir or Even More Miraculous Growth Elixir for the initial watering. These elixirs have the effect of instantly bringing the crops to full maturity, allowing them to be harvested right away.
Once all three crops have been collected, return to Scrooge McDuck and speak with him to complete the quest “A Garden in the Desert.” Scrooge rewards the player with a small amount of Mist, Eternity Isle’s equivalent to Dreamlight, and 3 Shiny Evergem. The Shiny Evergem, as of now, has no specific use in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Players can either sell it at Goofy’s Stall for Star Coins or keep this rare gem in anticipation of a potential future use.
