Bandai Namco shared good news with Nintendo Switch 2 users during the February 5 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, as Digimon Story: Time Stranger is heading to Nintendo consoles this summer. Along with confirming a Switch version, Bandai Namco said that the Switch 2 port of Digimon Story: Time Stranger will also include two graphics mode options for players to pick from.
The Switch and Switch 2 ports of Digimon Story: Time Stranger will arrive just under a year after initially launching on PC and other current-gen platforms. As the best-rated Digimon game to date, Digimon Story: Time Stranger is a time-traveling adventure that sees the player character taken eight years into the past to investigate an untold calamity. Various digital monsters from the Digimon franchise, including Agumon, Gabumon, and other iconic critters, can be battled and befriended throughout the game. Digimon Story: Time Stranger also has some post-launch DLC that fans can purchase individually or via a season pass.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger Arrives on Nintendo Consoles July 10
With third-party titles being the focus of the February 5 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, Bandai Namco confirmed that one of the best titles of last year will be on Nintendo consoles soon. Digimon Story: Time Stranger will launch on Switch and Switch 2 on Friday, July 10, with physical and digital versions both planned. Additionally, the Switch 2 version of Digimon Story: Time Stranger will have two graphics options that players can pick from, called Quality Mode and Performance Mode. Quality Mode will allow Digimon Story: Time Stranger to run at a 4K resolution with HDR support when docked and connected to a supported TV, though the frame rate will be locked to 30 FPS. HDR is also available in handheld mode. By comparison, Performance Mode will allow the game to render at 60 FPS at a 1080p resolution.
However, Performance Mode and Quality Mode are not available in the Switch version, and save data cannot be transferred between the different ports of the game. Additionally, when played on a Switch 2 console, the Switch version of Digimon Story: Time Stranger will allow users to download a free update that unlocks Performance Mode and Quality Mode. Digimon Story: Time Stranger and its downloadable content, including the Alternate Dimension and Gaku-Ran episodes, can now be browsed on the Nintendo eShop before the July 10 launch date. Players will need to set aside at least 12GB to 16GB of storage space, depending on the game version.
Pre-orders for the base and ultimate editions of Digimon Story: Time Stranger on the Nintendo eShop are now available at the respective prices of $59.99 and $109.99. However, both the Switch and Switch 2 ports are listed separately. Following the Partner Showcase, Bandai Namco confirmed on social media that the Quality Mode and Performance Mode options coming to Digimon Story: Time Strange r's Switch 2 port would arrive on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game as part of a free update coming at a later date.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger Joins a Growing Switch 2 Game List
The upcoming port of Digimon Story: Time Stranger was just one of the various Nintendo console ports announced during the February 5 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, which ran approximately 30 minutes long. The Partner Showcase also confirmed that other third-party RPGs, such as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Granblue Fantasy: Relink, would be released on the Switch 2 throughout 2026. The show's final reveal saw Bethesda announce it was releasing Switch 2 ports of Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered.
Given that the Switch 2 2026 release calendar is loaded with different games, Nintendo's latest console is showing no signs of slowing down. Despite the nine-month gap between the game's October 2025 launch and the upcoming Nintendo ports, it remains to be seen how the launch of Digimon Story: Time Stranger on the Switch and Switch 2 will be received by fans come July 10.
