A wealth of new Digimon Story: Time Stranger information was revealed during this week’s Digimon Con livestream, including the choice of partner Digimon players will have at the start of the game. There has been an uptick in Digimon video games over the past few years, and February’s PlayStation State of Play event featured a new one in the form of Digimon Story: Time Stranger.
Not much was revealed about Digimon Story: Time Stranger during its initial reveal, save for the presence of several classic monsters from the beloved Digimon anime series and a glimpse at the game’s dimension-spanning story. Gameplay-wise, Digimon Story: Time Stranger is a turn-based RPG just like the previous Digimon Story games, with players able to recruit and train a team of digital monsters to feed off enemies and uncover a mysterious threat to both the human and digital worlds.

Digimon Story: Time Strangers was featured during this week’s Digimon Con 2025 livestream, a celebration of all things Digimon that included a look at many upcoming projects. As reported by ComicBook, Digimon Story: Time Stranger producer Ryosuke Hara took to the stage to reveal many exciting details about the new game. One of these was the official confirmation of the three starter Digimon players can choose from at the beginning of the game, all of which will be familiar to fans of the original Digimon Adventure anime. These options are the cute, flying Patamon, aquatic Gomamon, and bat-like DemiDevimon.

Many fans had previously guessed that these would be the options for Digimon Story: Time Stranger’s starting partners, as all three were shown in the game’s early promotional artwork. They won’t be the only creatures that players can ally with in Digimon Story: Time Stranger, as Hara also confirmed that the game will feature no less than 450 Digimon. A newly released Digimon Story: Time Stranger trailer revealed a handful of them, including fan favorites like Angewomon, Gaogamon, and Renamon.
In addition to which starter Digimon players can choose from, this week’s Digimon Con also revealed details about the game’s story and human characters. Players can choose between the male Dan Yuki and female Kanan Yuki, both of whom are secret agents in the ADAMAS organization tasked with uncovering a mysterious threat to humans and Digimon alike. The game’s cast also includes Inori Misono and her partner Aegiomon. Unlike previous Digimon Story games, Time Stranger will regularly alternate between the human cities of Shinjuku and Akihabara and the Digital World of Illiad. There is still no official release date for Digimon Story: Time Stranger aside from a 2025 launch window.
