Diablo 4 players have said they don't like the traversal mechanic, expressing how inconvenient they find it. Diablo 4 frequently receives updates that add new features, seeking to improve the experience for players on their journeys through Sanctuary. But sometimes these changes don't always get the reception expected from the community.
Diablo 4 has an impressive number of mounts that can be obtained and customized, offering an extra degree of immersion. The game has specific mounts for each class and mounts that all characters can use, helping them to traverse the Sanctuary, and explore higher or deeper layer environments. While mounts provide players with a more dynamic way of venturing through Sanctuary, there is one point related to them that is leaving players dissatisfied.
Diablo 4 Continues to Tease Secret Cow Level
Diablo 4 fans discover new clues that could possibly point towards the elusive Secret Cow Level in the most recent addition to the ARPG series.
This point is the traversal mechanic, which Reddit user xkitox said they don't like. Revealing that it's a pet peeve they have with Diablo 4, they say they're not a fan of this feature, explaining that it “kills their momentum” because most of the time they have to dismount from their mount. To exemplify their frustration with traversal, the player shares a screenshot of the Diablo 4 map that shows eight arrows relatively close together which the player must dismount every time they want to interact with the objects found.
Traversal Frustrates Diablo 4 Players
Because of the traversal mechanic, Diablo 4 players with a mount must dismount to interact with an arrow on the map, indicating things like a door, rope, or ladder, and then mount again. In the comments section, other players said they had the same frustration, with one Redditor saying they would “avoid this kind of area if they had the chance,” in response to the image shared by the OP. Another player said they sometimes find the number of doors in dungeons "a bit much sometimes," and a third Redditor joked that “the biggest challenge for a level 100 Sorcerer in a Nightmare Dungeon is all the doors that need to be opened.”
This isn't the first time players have shared a frustration related to the game's mounts. The community has previously expressed dissatisfaction with the constant need to dismount frequently, with Blizzard adding the ability for Diablo 4 players to charge through barricades in one of the game's updates. With Blizzard about to open the test server again in the next few days, players wait to find out if the devs will introduce any change that will improve their experience with the traversal mechanic.
