Summary
- Diablo 4 has temporarily disabled Trades due to a duplication bug, affecting items like gold and gear.
- Some items in Diablo 4, like Unique and Legendary gear, cannot be traded, while others are bound to a character after one trade.
- The developers are investigating the issue and will inform players when Trades will be available again.
Diablo 4 has made Trades temporarily unavailable following the discovery of a duplication bug. Issues with duplicate items or gold aren't new to Diablo 4, or to veteran players of the franchise, who have seen the same exploit plague Diablo 2 for much of its history.
Trades in Diablo 4 can only happen from player to player. While some items can be traded, such as rare gear, gold, and gems, Diablo 4's Unique items, Legendary items, and Legendary Aspects are some of the things that cannot be traded. There are also items that Diablo 4 players can trade only once, becoming bound to a character and preventing the process from happening a second time. Diablo 4's trades are fairly straightforward, but the system was recently hit by a problem that prompted the devs to take action.
Diablo 4 has temporarily disabled Trades due to a new appearance of the duplication bug. Diablo 4 community manager Adam Fletcher broke the news via the official Blizzard forums, saying that the development team will investigate the problem further, and identify any issues that need to be solved. Fletcher also says that Blizzard will inform players when the Trades will be available again, which indicates that there is no deadline for solving this recurring Diablo 4 problem.
Diablo 4 Disables Trades Due to a Known Issue
This isn't the first time that the duplication bug has created problems for Diablo 4, causing Trades to become unavailable because of players who have obtained huge amounts of items or gold. With this new appearance of the bug, Diablo 4 players began reporting on the exploit, which was shared by several TikTok profiles and other websites. Another person who noticed the bug is the well-known Diablo 4 streamer Rob2628, who noted that “thousands of duplicate materials” had started appearing on the game's market. The streamer also revealed that it all started on a stream in China, where the duplication exploit was shared publicly with thousands of viewers.
The duplication exploit is one of the problems that hit Diablo 4 this week. Blizzard recently disabled the Gauntlet to fix an undisclosed bug, promising to enable the mode later the week after the release of a patch. While this Diablo 4 patch is not available, another update was released this week to fix various problems affecting the game. Among them is the bug fix for the Unique item The Umbracrux, which was disabled last week after giving massive experience gains to Diablo 4 players.
