A Diablo 4 player recently claimed to have discovered a secret post-credits scene. If this teaser is legitimate, it could be a subtle hint as to who players might face in one of Diablo 4's expansion packs.
Warning: Spoilers and speculation for Diablo 4 below.
Now that it has been out for a little while, plenty of players have completed the Diablo 4 campaign. Some of these players have watched the credits roll in their entirety, and have confirmed there were no secret stingers to be found after their first clear.
However, Diablo 4 fan AnActualSadTaco claims they found a brief scene after completing the campaign for the second time. The video they posted on their YouTube shows the screen going black after the Diablo 4 credits finish rolling, only to have a loud rumbling noise break the silence. Then, a horned, red demon skull flashes and trembles on the screen for a few seconds before disappearing.
AnActualSadTaco reportedly completed the campaign on a third character to see if this rumored scene got longer, but confirmed it did not. They also had the scene trigger for them on a Diablo 4 alt that skipped the campaign alongside a first-time clearer who did not see the scene. Other players have claimed to have seen this scene as well, though proof is scarce. Searching for the image of the red-horned demon has also been inconclusive, so AnActualSadTaco’s secret scene is either real or an elaborate and well-made hoax.
If it is real, there are a few options as to who the red skull could represent. The most obvious one would be Diablo himself, but the horns turn upward in a way more reminiscent of Mephisto. While this could tease a return of the Prime Evil himself, now that he has returned to Sanctuary in Neyrelle’s Soulstone, it could also be hinting at the return of Lucion. The son of Mephisto, Lucion has had even fewer appearances in pre-Diablo 4 lore than his sister Lilith. Given the game’s focus on the family tree of Hatred and the Triune, which he founded and led during the Sin War, Diablo 4’s expansion packs could be the perfect place for Lucion’s return.
In the meantime, Diablo 4 fans are still searching for the Secret Cow Level. The developers of Diablo 4 have claimed it doesn’t exist, but cheeky comments, clever memes, and hidden assets suggest otherwise. Players will have to wait and see if these Diablo 4 secret-hunters can crack open the door to the Secret Cow Level, confirm the existence of the post-credits scene, and discover any other secrets hidden across Sanctuary.
Diablo 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
