Summary
- Diablo 4 Season 7 is turning Class Quests into universal unlocks tied to one's account rather than individual characters.
- New characters whose Class Quests the player has already completed will automatically gain access to their unlocks at the required level.
- Diablo 4 still aims to encourage players to keep returning to Class Quests by offering some new, yet-to-be-specified rewards for doing so.
Diablo 4 Season 7 will make Class Quests universal unlocks, allowing players to skip them on new characters so long as they have already completed them once. This change promises to make Diablo 4 a bit less grindy.
Aside from unique weapons and skills, each Diablo 4 class also has access to special abilities that need to be unlocked by completing a Class Quest. These quests generally require reaching a specific character level, typically 15, though some also have additional prerequisites. Ever since the game's June 2023 release, Class Quest unlocks have been tied to characters.
Some Diablo 4 Players Will Be Missing Out on Future Content
Unfortunately, some Diablo 4 players will be missing out on future content coming to the popular action-RPG.
Blizzard now intends to revise this system starting with Season 7. As revealed during the latest Diablo 4 Campfire Chat livestream in late November 2024, Class Quests will begin being tied to accounts rather than characters once the next season kicks off. The upcoming change aims to make the process of starting a new character more straightforward. Rewards for completing Class Quests will remain tied to their existing level requirements. For instance, new Barbarians and Druids will need to reach level 15 to unlock theirs, while Necromancers will be able to do the same at level 25 if the player has already completed their Class Quest with another character.
Diablo 4 Teases New Class Quest Rewards
Even though Diablo 4 players will no longer be forced to repeat Class Quests starting from next season, they'll possibly want to do so regardless. Namely, Blizzard officials have also mentioned that repeated Class Quests will soon start offering some new rewards during the latest Campfire Chat broadcast. While the specifics of this change remain unclear, further details will likely emerge as the new season approaches.
Blizzard has yet to commit to a firm release date for Diablo 4 Season 7. But seeing how Season 6 kicked off on October 8 and assuming the developer intends to stick with its roughly three-month content cycle, it's plausible that Season 7 will start circa late January 2025. In the meantime, players will be able to try out some of the upcoming changes via the Diablo 4 Public Test Realm server starting on December 3. The upcoming test is planned to conclude on December 10.
The late November 2024 Campfire Chat also included the reveal of Headrotten, the next batch of seasonal enemies. These creatures will drop Restless Rot, a currency that can be used for unlocking new seasonal Witchcraft powers. Diablo 4 Season 7 will add over 20 powers to the game.
