Diablo 4 developers recently revealed during a Gamescom interview that around 85% of the game’s player base plays solo. Diablo 4 can be played both alone or with friends, and it seems that Blizzard is keen on boosting multiplayer with the next updates.
Originally released last year, Diablo 4 is about to gain its first expansion on October 8, which has been the game’s highlight at Gamescom. Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred will bring Mercenary Companions, the new Aztec Jaguar warrior-inspired Spiritborn class, a new main quest storyline, and more. However, the developers have also been sharing other interesting bits of information during the major gaming event.
An interesting detail surfaced during Gamescom when the content creator AnnacakeLIVE interviewed designer Aislyn Hall and game director Brent Gibson, that around 85% of all Diablo 4 gamers played solo. According to the developers, Blizzard expects the number of people engaging in multiplayer to grow steadily over time, especially as younger audiences start to explore the game via Game Pass, as they are more used to playing with friends. By introducing the new Party Finder feature, Blizzard hopes to give gamers a high-quality way of finding other people to play with, create parties, and participate in group activities.
85% of Diablo 4 Gamers Play Solo
The Party Finder is just one of many features coming to Diablo 4, though. Blizzard has recently revealed new fan-requested features, including customizable waypoints for Town Portals, and an armory system that will allow gamers to change builds, working similarly to Diablo 3’s loadout system. These two improvements were often asked for by gamers, and are likely to be met with a positive reception.
While Diablo 4’s main highlight at Gamescom is undeniably the Vessel of Hatred expansion, Blizzard is also teasing Diablo 4's Season 6, which will be released on the same day as the DLC. While more information will be revealed during Diablo 4’s campfire chat on August 29, it’s already known that the next season will bring a yet undisclosed seasonal mechanic that will replace the current Infernal Hordes.
Diablo 4’s Season 5 was released on August 6, and it just received its first hotfix. Diablo 4’s Hotfix 1.5.1 mostly fixed performance and stability problems in the game, and fixed some issues where enemies were dealing much more damage than intended. According to the official patch notes, three enemies were nerfed by the hotfix: the Desecrator in the Infernal Hordes, the Beast in the Ice and its summoned monsters, and Hellborne.
