Some Diablo 4 players are reporting a bug that causes the explosions generated by the Barbarian's Mantle of Mountain’s Fury to do no damage. The release of Diablo 4 Season 7 includes many new pieces of gear, but Barbarians may wish to avoid this unique armor for now.
Each Diablo 4 season includes various adjustments to the game, fixes to underlying problems, and quality-of-life improvements. Beyond the standard additions, some seasons include limited-time powers, new items and gear, and new areas like The Pit to explore with leaderboards attached to them. Given Diablo 4 is a live service game, these seasons are intended to keep players returning to the game to experience the latest changes. The key change with Season 7 is the Witchcraft powers, which are unlocked by using a seasonal currency called Restless Rot. Season 7 also introduced a ton of new gear for each class in the game. Unlike the other classes, Barbarians may feel disadvantaged because one of the new pieces of gear doesn't activate its key ability.

Reddit users Alex120907 and Hellajoofy are among a handful of Diablo 4 Barbarian players who reported an issue with the Mantle of Mountain’s Fury chest piece. This unique armor is a fresh arrival with Diablo 4 Season 7, and it's supposed to cause some of the Barbarian's Earthquakes to explode and deal more total damage to enemies. Instead of working like this, the Earthquakes still have an explosion animation, but do no additional damage to enemies. According to another user, the Barbarian chest piece worked effectively during the Season 7 public test phase, but now it's broken. This may suggest that Blizzard has a quick fix for the issue in its PTR code for the Barbarian.
This New Diablo 4 Gear May Be Useless for Barbarian Fans
Given that the Barbarian's Earthquakes deal damage without Mantle of Mountain’s Fury's explosion effect, fans of the class may be better off leaving it unequipped until it's fixed. Because Season 7 just released on January 21, there may be other bugs that Blizzard hasn't been made aware of. As each Diablo 4 class has Season 7 gear to unlock, the Mantle of Mountain’s Fury may not be the only unique armor to have issues with it. With many Barbarians reporting issues with the new chest piece, other classes may keep a closer eye on what their gear says it does versus what it effectively does.
As a Blizzard representative already mentioned the team is looking to hotfix the Mantle of Mountain’s Fury, the issue may be resolved soon. Given Blizzard continues to update Diablo 4, there may be more pieces of gear introduced in subsequent seasons that need similar treatment. This means gamers should keep an eye on these things even beyond Season 7.
