The most sought-after items in Diablo 4 are the incredibly rare Mythics that can often be the defining feature of a given build. Much of Diablo 4's endgame is spent farming Lair Bosses, hoping for a Mythic drop, or grinding for Runes and Resplendent Sparks to craft the Mythic that is the missing puzzle piece of the player's build. However, not all Mythics are created equal, and there is one Diablo 4 Mythic that is more of a disappointment than an excuse to celebrate if it drops.

While some Mythics, like the Heir of Perdition and the Shroud of False Death, are almost universally beneficial, others have very situational uses or can only be used by a specific class. In cases like these, it can be hard to justify using them on a build unless they specifically synergize with damage type, such as the Doombringer's Shadow Damage, clashing with any build that isn't designed to capitalize on that type of damage. However, the worst Diablo 4 Mythic gets the short end of the stick as both an exclusive to one class and as a lesser option compared to its alternatives—at least until Season 10.

Nesekem, the Herald Has Historically Been the Worst Diablo 4 Mythic

Despite being one of the best classes in Diablo 4, the Spiritborn's exclusive Mythic, Nesekem, the Herald, is by far the worst in the game. This Mythic Glaive isn't particularly bad on its own, but only being usable by the Spiritborn hinders its versatility. Nesekem, the Herald has a solid Unique affix and offers other useful stat increases, but is largely unimpressive as a package.

  • Nesekem, the Herald
    • Inherent Affix: +400% Damage to Elites
    • +200 to All Stats
    • +1200 Maximum Life
    • +250% Critical Strike Damage
    • +450% Overpower Damage
    • Unique Affix: Every 2 seconds, you randomly mark a Nearby enemy. Marked enemies are Vulnerable, and your attacks against them are guaranteed to Critically Strike and Overpower. Hitting a marked enemy 10 times clears the mark from them.

This Mythic may look decent on paper, but its weakness lies in the fact that there are simply better, more common Uniques for the Spiritborn. Unique Weapons like the Rod of Kepeleke and Wushe Nak Pa offer better affixes that synergize well with the Spiritborn's best builds. Nesekem, the Herald would be a fine option if the alternatives weren't better—or if players could get those same Uniques in other gear slots.

With Season 10 introducing Chaos Uniques to the game, Nesekm, the Herald may actually be a Mythic worth chasing for Spiritborn players. Chaos Uniques allow certain Uniques to appear on gear other than their standard versions, and this includes some weapons. For the Spiritborn, the Chaos Uniques available in Diablo 4 Season 10 include:

  • Balazan's Maxtlatl (Unique Pants)
  • Band of First Breath (Unique Ring)
  • Harmony of Ebewaka (Unique Helm)
  • Hesha e Kesungri (Unique Gloves)
  • Jacinth Shell (Unique Chest Armor)
  • Loyalty's Mantle (Unique Helm)
  • Peacemonger's Signet (Unique Ring)
  • Ring of the Midday Hunt (Unique Ring)
  • Rod of Kepeleke (Unique Quarterstaff)
  • Sunstained War-Croizer (Unique Quarterstaff)
  • Sepazontec (Unique Quarterstaff)
  • Wushe Nak Pa (Unique Glaive)

With four Unique weapons in the Spiritborn's Chaos pool, there is plenty of room for builds that incorporate Nesekem, the Herald, as a weapon while some of the class's other Unique weapons find new roles in different gear slots. Being able to find new combinations of Uniques not possible before opens the door for not only Nesekem, the Herald to become one of the more useful Mythics in Diablo 4, but for the Spiritborn as a whole to get a brand-new set of build options that can take advantage of its wide range of fantastic Uniques.
